SAFF Competitions
South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) is an association of the football playing nations in South Asia. Incorporated in 1997, it is a regional subsidiary of Asian Football Confederation. The members of the association are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. History The SAFF was founded in 1997, with Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In 2000, they expanded to 7 members, adding Bhutan. Football Federation Of Sri Lanka
The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), also known as Football Sri Lanka (FSL), is the governing body of football in Sri Lanka. It operates the Sri Lanka national football team and Sri Lanka Football Premier League. History FFSL was founded on 1939 as Ceylon Football Association, later rechristened as Football Federation of Sri Lanka in 1972. FSL affiliated with FIFA in 1952. FFSL affiliated with Asian Football Confederation in 1954 and was the founding member of South Asian Football Federation which was founded in 1997. Ganesh Thapa
Ganesh Thapa () is a retired international football player and a former president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). He was formerly the president of the South Asian Football Federation and the vice president of Asian Football Confederation (AFC). He is considered one of the greatest Nepali footballers of all time. He also served as Member of Parliament in Constituent Assembly of Nepal. Family Thapa is the younger brother of politician Kamal Thapa. Thapa is married to Hajuri Thapa and has two sons, Gaurav Thapa and Abhishek Thapa. Playing career Before becoming the president of ANFA, Thapa was a national football player and captain from 1979 to 1989. He played for East Bengal FC in the Calcutta Football League. Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) is one of five regional bodies that govern association football in Asia. It governs association football, futsal, and beach football in Central Asia. Headquartered in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, CAFA consists of six full national association members: Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
