S Postcode Area
The S postcode area, also known as the Sheffield postcode area, is a group of postcode districts in England, which are subdivisions of eight post towns. These cover most of South Yorkshire (including Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Mexborough), parts of north Derbyshire (including Chesterfield, Dronfield and the Hope Valley) and north-west Nottinghamshire (including Worksop), plus a small part of West Yorkshire. The S postcode area is one of six with a population above 1 million. History For 1857–1868 an ''S sector'' of the London postal district existed. Similarly, there were also S-prefixed postal districts in the compass-based system used in Glasgow: ''Glasgow S1, S2, S3 and S4'', which later became G41 to G44. Three postcode districts were split and separated into ten new postcode districts. These were: *S20, formed out of ''S19''. The code was changed while the area remained the same to avoid confusion as the sectors were redrawn. *S21, S25 and S26, formed out of '' ... British National Vegetation Classification
__NOTOC__ The British National Vegetation Classification or NVC is a system of classifying natural habitat types in Great Britain according to the vegetation they contain. A large scientific meeting of ecologists, botanists, and other related professionals in the United Kingdom resulted in the publication of a compendium of five books: '' British Plant Communities'', edited by John S. Rodwell, which detail the incidence of plant species in twelve major habitat types in the British natural environment. They are the first systematic and comprehensive account of the vegetation types of the country. They cover all natural, semi-natural and major artificial habitats in Great Britain (not Northern Ireland) and represent fifteen years of research by leading plant ecologists. From the data collated from the books, commercial software products have been developed to help to classify vegetation identified into one of the many habitat types found in Great Britain – these include ''MAT ... Keep Container In A Well-ventilated Place
A keep is a type of fortified tower built within castles during the Middle Ages by European nobility. Scholars have debated the scope of the word ''keep'', but usually consider it to refer to large towers in castles that were fortified residences, used as a refuge of last resort should the rest of the castle fall to an adversary. The first keeps were made of timber and formed a key part of the motte-and-bailey castles that emerged in Normandy and Anjou during the 10th century; the design spread to England, Portugal, south Italy and Sicily. As a result of the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, use spread into Wales during the second half of the 11th century and into Ireland in the 1170s. The Anglo-Normans and French rulers began to build stone keeps during the 10th and 11th centuries, including Norman keeps, with a square or rectangular design, and circular shell keeps. Stone keeps carried considerable political as well as military importance and could take a decade or more to bu ... S 9 (Abydos)
S 9 (also Abydos-south S9) is the modern name given to a monumental ancient Egyptian tomb complex at Abydos, Egypt, Abydos in Egypt. The tomb is most likely royal and dates to the mid-Thirteenth dynasty of Egypt, 13th Dynasty, during the late Middle Kingdom of Egypt, Middle Kingdom. Finds from the area of the tomb indicate that S9 suffered extensive, state-sanctioned stone and grave robbing during the Second Intermediate Period, only a few decades after its construction, as well as during the later Egypt (Roman province), Roman and Coptic periods. Although no direct evidence was found to determine the tomb owner, strong indirect evidence suggest that the neighbouring and slightly smaller tomb S 10 (Abydos), S10 belongs to pharaoh Sobekhotep IV (fl. c. 1725 BC). Consequently, S9 has been tentatively attributed by the Egyptologist Josef W. Wegner to Sobekhotep IV's predecessor and brother, Neferhotep I (fl. c. 1735 BC). According to Wegner, the tomb might originally have been capped b ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

S9, SB8, SM9 are para-swimming classifications used for categorizing swimmers based on their level of disability. Swimmers in this class generally have severe weakness in one leg.
