Palézieux–Lyss Railway
The Palézieux–Lyss railway is a single-track standard-gauge line of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) in Romandy. The section south of Kerzers is sometimes considered to form one of two lines that intersect at Payerne station and are referred to in French as the ''Ligne de la Broye'' (Broye line) or in German as the ''Broyelinien'' (Broye lines) or ''Broyetallinien'' (Broye valley lines). The Palézieux–Lyss railway includes the ''Broye longitudinal'' ( Palézieux–Payerne–Murten–Kerzers). The Fribourg–Yverdon railway is considered to form the ''Broye transversal'' ( Yverdon-les-Bains–Payerne–). The lines are named after the Broye river, which passes through the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg, crossing the cantonal border ten times in total. Lausanne–Bern Railway
The Lausanne–Bern railway is a mainline railway in Switzerland. The first part of the line was opened in 1860 and the original line was completed on 4 September 1862. The line was built by the Swiss Central Railway and the Lausanne–Fribourg–Bern Railway, which were taken over by the Swiss Federal Railways on its establishment in 1902. History The Canton of Fribourg delayed the construction of the line from Bern to Lausanne in a bid to have it run through the city of Fribourg rather than on flatter land further west; in 1857 the Swiss government, the canton of Vaud and the West Switzerland Company gave in, allowing construction to commence on the line. On 2 July 1860, the line opened from Bern to the northern end of the 352 metre-long Grandfey Viaduct being built over the Saane river in Balliswil, near Fribourg. Lausanne–Geneva Railway
The Lausanne–Geneva railway is a double-track main railway line in Switzerland. It is an important for passenger transport and is the most frequented railway in Romandy. It serves as an approach from Geneva to the Simplon Railway and the line to Bern and Zürich. History Opening The origins of the railway stretch back to 1855, when the West Switzerland Company (''Compagnie de l’Ouest Suisse'', OS) opened the Morges–Renens section as part of the Jura Foot Railway. The extension to Lausanne was completed in 1856. The InterRegio, often shortened to IR, is a train categories in Europe, train category for mainly domestic train services in use in some European countries, with Swiss Federal Railways operating the most dense network. InterRegio trains are semi-fast long-distance trains with more stops and usually lower prices than more upscale long-distance trains such as the InterCity (IC). Denmark The InterRegio system was also introduced to the Danish railways in the early 1990s and became an alternative to the InterCity services, with no seat reservation required.
