S5000
The VHT S5000 Australian Drivers' Championship (known originally as the Australian S5000 Championship, or simply S5000) was an open-wheel road racing series in Australia. The series was created by a merger between two proposed series, Formula Thunder 5000 and Super5000. The series was promoted by the Australian Racing Group. The inaugural race of the series was originally set to be in Sydney Motorsport Park in May 2019, but was delayed to September due to supply issues from Ligier's Charlotte area factory where the chassis are manufactured. The championship ran through to 2023, before being suspended for the 2024 season, though the promoters have hopes of reviving it. It would be officially confirmed on January 9th 2025 that the S5000 Australian Drivers Championship would be axed with S5000 Category builder GRM announced intentions to sell it's 15 remaining built chassis and spare parts inventory. 2019 S5000 Season
The CAMS Australian S5000 Championship held two "launch events" or exhibition meetings in 2019, prior to the 2021 Australian S5000 Championship, inaugural championship season in 2021. These meetings were held as part of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships, at Sandown Raceway on 21 and 22 September and The Bend Motorsport Park on 16 and 17 November. James Golding (born 19 January 1996) is an Australian racing driver who competes in the Repco Supercars Championship driving the No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for PremiAir Racing. Aaron Cameron (born 27 January 2000) is an Australian racing driver, competing in the Supercars Championship in the No. 3 Ford Mustang S650 for Blanchard Racing Team. Sandown Raceway
Sandown International Raceway is a motor racing circuit in the suburb of Springvale in Melbourne, Victoria, approximately south east of the city centre. Sandown is considered a power circuit with its " drag strip" front and back straights being long respectively. History Sandown Racecourse was first built as a horse racing facility, dating back into the 19th century, but closed in the 1930s in a government run rationalisation program. Redevelopment began not long after World War II. A bitumen motor racing circuit was built around the outside of the proposed horse track (which was not completed until 1965) and was first opened in 1962 and held the race which became the Sandown 500 for the first time in 1964. Sydney Motorsport Park (known until May 2012 as Eastern Creek International Raceway) is a motorsport circuit located on Brabham Drive, Eastern Creek (40-kilometres west of the Sydney CBD), New South Wales, Australia, adjacent to the Western Sydney International Dragway. It was built and is owned by the New South Wales Government and is operated by the Australian Racing Drivers Club. The Bend Motorsport Park, currently known as Shell V-Power Motorsport Park for naming rights reasons, is a bitumen motor racing circuit at Tailem Bend, South Australia, Tailem Bend, South Australia, Australia, about south-east of the state capital, Adelaide. The complex has a bitumen circuit, drag racing strip, and drift racing circuit. John Martin is an Australian professional racing driver. Martin has had wide experience racing in European based open-wheel series since 2006. The Dunlop Super2 Series (formerly known as Dunlop Series, Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series, HPDC V8 Supercars Series, Konica Minolta V8 Supercars Series and Konica V8 Supercars/Lites Series) is an Australian touring car racing competition, specifically the second tier series for Supercars competitors. Formula 5000 (or F5000) was an Open-wheel car, open wheel, single seater auto-racing formula that ran in different series in various regions around the world from 1968 to 1982.
