S2o Design And Engineering
S2o Design and Engineering were the detailed designers of the London 2012 whitewater venue. The selection of this team to design the Olympic venue was unique because the designer was a former Olympic competitor ('92, '96, '00) who started a firm to design whitewater parks after receiving a degree in Engineering. The company was started in 2003 by Scott Shipley. Scott Shipley is a registered professional engineer who was formerly a World Cup Slalom Champion and World Silver Medalist in both freestyle kayaking and slalom kayaking. Scott Shipley
Scott R. Shipley (born May 15, 1971 in Poulsbo, Washington) is an American slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1988 to 2004. He won three silver medals in the K1 event at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, earning them in 1995, 1997, and 1999. He won the overall World Cup title in K1 three times (1993, 1995 and 1997). In 2010, he became U.S. national champion in C2. Shipley also competed in three Summer Olympics, earning his best finish of fifth in the K1 event in Sydney in 2000. Lee Valley White Water Centre
Lee Valley White Water Centre (previously known as Broxbourne White Water Canoe Centre) is a white-water slalom centre, that was constructed to host the canoe slalom events of the London 2012 Olympic Games. On 9 December 2010, Anne, Princess Royal officially opened the venue which is owned by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and was orginally managed by them as well, but since April 1st 2022, is now managed by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) under its "Better" brand. The £31 million ($50 million US) project to construct the centre finished on schedule and was the first newly constructed Olympic venue to be completed.
