S. S. Narayan
Shankar Subramaniam Narayan (12 November 1934 – 5 August 2021), also known as S. S. "Babu" Narayan, was a footballer who represented India as a goalkeeper at the 1956 and 1960 Olympic Games. Playing career In club football, Narayan played for Tata SC and retired from the game in 1970, being replaced as goalkeeper at the club by Bandya Kakade. In 2013, he was felicitated by the Mumbai District Football Association for his contributions to Indian football. He was also a popular performer at the basketball court. Ottapalam
Ottapalam, (also spelled Ottappalam) is a town, taluk and municipality in the Palakkad District, Kerala, India. It is the administrative headquarters of the Ottapalam taluk. Ottapalam is located about 36 km from district headquarters Palakkad. Ottapalam is located along the banks of Bharathapuzha, second longest river of the state. It is one of the major commercial centres in the district. Bandya Kakade
Bandya Kakade (c. 1945 – 17 October 2012) was an Indian Association football, footballer who was second-choice Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper in the Indian squad that won a bronze medal at the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok. He understudied Kuppuswami Sampath in that competition and he was one of three goalkeepers who represented India in the qualifying competition for the 1972 Summer Olympics, 1972 Olympic Games. Born in Mumbai to a family of tailors, Bandya Kakade was more interested in football and tennis than studies during his schooldays. He played for a local team, Friends XI, before progressing to the Central Railways club and then, in 1966, to Mafatlal SC. He played for the Indian junior team in 1964 and spent nearly 20 years as goalkeeper with Tata Sports Club from 1970, where he replaced S. S. Narayan. Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
