''S.C.I.E.N.C.E.'' is the second studio album by American rock band Incubus. It was released on September 9, 1997, by Epic and Immortal Records. The album was certified gold by the RIAA, and is the second and final release to feature Gavin Koppel (known as DJ Lyfe), who first appeared on the 1997 '' Enjoy Incubus'' EP. It has been occasionally considered the band's proper debut album, due to the nature of their independent release ''Fungus Amongus''. Background Production After recording their independent debut album ''Fungus Amongus'' (1995), Incubus signed a seven-record deal with Epic/Sony-affiliated Immortal Records in 1996. An EP titled '' Enjoy Incubus'' was released by Epic/Immortal at the beginning of 1997, and Incubus would go on a European tour with labelmates Korn and The Urge for the next few months. ''Make Yourself'' is the third studio album by American rock band Incubus. It was released on October 26, 1999, through Epic Records and Immortal Records. The album received double platinum certification by the RIAA and produced three charting singles—" Pardon Me", " Stellar", and " Drive"—all of which reached the top three of the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart, with the latter topping the chart and also becoming the band's sole top ten hit to date on the '' Billboard'' Hot 100, where it peaked at number nine. ''Fungus Amongus'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Incubus, released on November 1, 1995, by Chillum Records, Incubus' own independent label. It was later re-released under Epic and Immortal Records on November 7, 2000, after popular demand. Background Incubus formed in 1991, while its members were still in high school, and recorded several demos over the next few years. In 2017, drummer José Pasillas described ''Fungus Amongus'' as "our first concerted effort at putting a group of songs together on an LP". Brandon Boyd
Brandon Charles Boyd (born February 15, 1976) is an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Incubus, with whom he has recorded eight studio albums. In addition to his work with Incubus, Boyd has released two solo albums – '' The Wild Trapeze'' (2010) and ''Echoes & Cocoons'' (2022) – and has collaborated with producer Brendan O'Brien under the name Sons of the Sea. "New Skin" is a song by American rock band Incubus. It was released as the second single from their second studio album, '' S.C.I.E.N.C.E.'' (1997). It reached #38 on the ''Billboard'' Active Rock chart in 1998. It originally appeared on their 1995 EP '' Let Me Tell Ya 'Bout Root Beer''. The song's bridge samples systems theorist Buckminster Fuller's quote, "Up to the Twentieth Century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see, and hear. ''Enjoy Incubus'' is the second EP and major label debut by American rock band Incubus. It was released on January 7, 1997, by Epic and Immortal Records. It contained re-recordings of songs that were featured on their previous, independent releases '' Let Me Tell Ya 'Bout Root Beer'' and ''Fungus Amongus'', as well the previously unreleased song "Version" and an untitled hidden track at the end of '"Hilikus". It was the first appearance on a release by DJ Lyfe, who added turntable scratches to the ''Fungus Amongus'' songs, and also supplied saxophone samples. This release was also noted for its introduction of 'Chuck', the mysterious mustachioed man who has become an icon for Incubus's early work. Michael Aaron Einziger (born June 21, 1976) is an American musician, songwriter and producer. He is best known for being co-founder and guitarist of the rock band Incubus, and has also co-written, produced and collaborated with a wide array of artists including Pharrell Williams, Hans Zimmer, Skrillex, Tyler the Creator, Avicii, Damian Marley, Jason Schwartzman ( Coconut Records) and Steve Martin among many others. Incubus has sold over 23 Million albums worldwide, and in 2013, Einziger co-wrote the hit song " Wake Me Up", alongside Avicii and Aloe Blacc. Alex Katunich
George Alex Katunich (born August 18, 1976) is an American musician. He is best known as the founding bassist of the Californian band Incubus. He left the band in 2003. Since high school, Katunich has used the stage name of Dirk Lance. Personal life Katunich's paternal grandfather George was born in Indiana, to Croatian parents from the town of Ozalj.
