Riga district () was an Districts of Latvia, administrative division of Latvia, located in Semigallia and Vidzeme regions, in the centre of the country. It was the ''de facto'' successor of the historical Riga county since 1949. Baldone Parish () is an administrative unit of Ķekava Municipality, Latvia. From 2009 until 2021, it was part of the former Baldone Municipality. Ādaži Municipality
Ādaži Municipality () is a municipality in the historical region of Vidzeme, and the Riga Planning Region in Latvia, which consists of Ādaži and plus the administrative centre, Ādaži. The municipality is located 25 km from the center of Riga. The municipality was formed in 2006 from Ādaži Parish of Riga district and became a first level unit in 2009. After the 2021 administrative reform, Carnikava Municipality was merged into Ādaži Municipality. Vangaži () is a town in Ropaži Municipality in the Vidzeme region of Latvia. History The name Vangaži () was first mentioned in the 17th century as the name of a local manor. The name itself is a combination of two words in the Livonian language - ''vang'' (field) and ''aži'' (place). Since the 17th century there was also a Lutheran church in Vangaži. Close to the modern town of Vangaži there were several manufactures which produced paper, glass and copper products. The modern town started in the 1950s when the concrete factory was founded. Sigulda (; ; Polish Zygwold) is a town in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, from the capital city Riga. Overview Sigulda is on a picturesque stretch of the primeval Gauja river valley. Because of the reddish Devonian sandstone which forms steep rocks and caves on both banks of the river, Sigulda has been called the "Switzerland of Vidzeme". Saulkrasti (; ) (literally ''Sun shores'' in Latvian) is a town in Saulkrasti Municipality in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, on the east coast of the Gulf of Riga. It is the administrative centre of Saulkrasti Municipality. Salaspils
Salaspils (; ; ) (literally: "island castle") is a town in the Vidzeme region of Latvia. It is the administrative centre of Salaspils Municipality. The town is situated on the northern bank of the Daugava river, 18 kilometers to the south-east of the city of Riga. History Salaspils is one of the oldest settlements in Latvia. Archaeological excavations of 1964–1975 (during the construction of Riga HES) in ancient settlements, burial grounds and castle mounds give evidence of very dense population of the region. At this time, the remains of 11,000-year-old reindeer hunters were found (the oldest known human settlement in all of Latvia) and 3500-year-old remains of Baltic hunters, buried in hollowed-out oak-tree trunks, were found as well. Olaine
Olaine (; ) is a city in Olaine Municipality in the Vidzeme region of Latvia. Olaine gained town rights in 1967. The population in 2020 was 10,668. History The name comes from the (), built by the stream, a Misa River, Misa river tributary, under Swedish rule in the 17th century, at a place which is within the village now known as ("New Olaine") some two kilometers away from the modern Olaine.
