Róisín Upton
Róisín Upton (born 1 April 1994) is an Ireland women's national field hockey team, Ireland women's field hockey international. She was a member of the Ireland team that played in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup final. Upton was also a member of the Connecticut Huskies field hockey, Connecticut Huskies teams that won the 2013 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship, 2013 and 2014 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships. Early years and education Upton is the daughter of Dermot and Pauline Upton and is originally from Janesboro on the south side of the city. She has two older brothers, Diarmaid and Sean, both of whom have played rugby union for Munster Rugby, Munster at schoolboy level and have played for Young Munster in the All-Ireland League (rugby union), All-Ireland League. Emily Beatty
Emily Beatty (born 18 August 1993) is an Ireland women's field hockey international. She was a member of the Ireland team that played in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup final. Beatty has also won Irish Senior Cup and Women's Irish Hockey League titles with UCD. Early years and education Beatty was educated at Alexandra College and University College Dublin. Between 2012 and 2016 she attended University College Dublin and gained a degree in Psychology. Her fellow students at Alexandra College included Deirdre Duke. Beatty and Duke played together as teammates in both the Alexandra College field hockey and women's association football teams. Beatty completed her Leaving Cert in 2012. The Women's Irish Hockey League is a field hockey league organised by Hockey Ireland that features women's teams from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. UCD Ladies' Hockey Club
UCD Ladies' Hockey Club is a women's field hockey club in Dublin, Ireland, operating within University College Dublin. In addition to playing in Colours matches with Dublin University and competing in intervarsity tournaments, the club also enter teams in the Women's Irish Hockey League, the Irish Senior Cup and the Irish Junior Cup. During the 2010s UCD has emerged as one Ireland's strongest teams in women's field hockey, winning three Irish Hockey League titles and four Irish Senior Cups. Irish Senior Cup (women's Hockey)
The Women's Irish Senior Cup is the premier knockout trophy played for by the top women's field hockey clubs in Ireland. The competition is held under the auspices of the Irish Hockey Association, a body that was formed with the merger of the men's and women's Unions in 2000. The Irish Ladies Hockey Union was the first women's hockey organisation in the world. Historical format From its start in 1903, the tournament was played through regional tournaments. The winners of the regional tournaments in Leinster, Munster and Ulster Shield, Ulster would proceed through to an open draw. Occasionally representatives from the South East Branch and the Connacht Branch also took part. Naomi Carroll
Naomi Carroll (born 13 September 1992) is an Irish Olympian and Ireland women's field hockey international. In 2015–16 Carroll won a Women's Irish Hockey League title with Hermes. Carroll has also played both camogie and ladies' Gaelic football at senior inter-county level for Clare and represented the Republic of Ireland women's national under-17 football team. Early years and education Carroll is originally from Cratloe, County Clare. She completed her secondary level education at St Patrick's Comprehensive in Shannon. Between 2011 and 2015 she attended Mary Immaculate College where she gained a BA in Maths and Irish. Yvonne O'Byrne (born 2 January 1992) is an Ireland women's field hockey international. She was a member of the Ireland team that played in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup final. She plays for Cork Harlequins in the Women's Irish Hockey League and has also played for Cork Institute of Technology at intervarsity level. Early years, family and education O'Byrne is the daughter of Pat O'Byrne. She has two brothers, Niall and Lorcan. She was raised in the Model Farm Road and Bishopstown districts of Cork. She was educated at St Catherine's N.S., Mount Mercy College, Cork and the Cork Institute of Technology. The Honda Sports Award is an annual award in the United States, given to the best collegiate female athlete in each of twelve sports. There are four nominees for each sport, and the twelve winners of the Honda Sports Award are automatically in the running for the Honda-Broderick Cup award, as the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
