Río Cuarto (canton)
Río Cuarto is a canton in the Alajuela province of Costa Rica. The head city is in Río Cuarto district. Toponymy Translates to ''Fourth River''. History Río Cuarto was created on 20 April 2018 by decree 9440. It was originally a district of Grecia, however not on contiguous land as it was separated from Grecia when Sarchí canton, which was also part of Grecia originally, became a canton in 1949. After agreement of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica in second debate the Thursday 30 March 2017, Río Cuarto district became a canton, then in 2018 three districts were created in the canton. Geography Río Cuarto has an area of km² and a mean elevation of metres. It is located to the north of the Poás Volcano. It limits to the north and the west with the canton of San Carlos, to the east and also to the north with the canton of Sarapiquí to the south with the cantons of Alajuela and Zarcero. Cantons Of Costa Rica
Costa Rica is administratively divided into seven provinces which are subdivided into 83 cantons, and these are further subdivided into districts. Cantons are the only administrative division in Costa Rica that possess local government in the form of municipalities. Each municipality has its own mayor and several representatives, all of them chosen via municipal elections every four years. The original 14 cantons were established in 1848, and the number has risen gradually by the division of existing cantons. Law no. 4366 of 19 August 1969, which outlines the creation of administrative divisions of Costa Rica, states that new cantons may only be created if they have at least one percent of the republic's total population, which was as of the last census (2011). National Route 4 (Costa Rica)
National Primary Route 4, or Route 4, is a national primary road, which covers the northern region of the country, through the provinces of Limón, Heredia, Alajuela and Guanacaste. The (North Atlantic Drive) is made from the section between Guápiles and Limón of the Route 32, and this route. It allows direct travel between the Caribbean coast of the country to the northwest canton of La Cruz in Guanacaste Province. Description Route 4 covers the north provinces of the country, and allows to travel between the Pacific Ocean districts and the Caribbean side of the country without going through the Greater Metropolitan Area at the central valley. The Costa Rica 2011 Census was undertaken by the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Costa Rica, National Institute of Statistics and Census (''Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos'' (INEC)) in Costa Rica. Maar
A maar is a broad, low-relief volcanic crater caused by a phreatomagmatic eruption (an explosion which occurs when groundwater comes into contact with hot lava or magma). A maar characteristically fills with water to form a relatively shallow crater lake which may also be called a maar. The name comes from a Moselle Franconian dialect word used for the circular lakes of the Daun area of Germany. Lake Hule
Lake Hule ( es, Laguna de Hule), which translates to ''Lake of Rubber'', due to the abundance of rubber trees nearby, is a fresh water crater lake located in the northern highlands of Costa Rica. It is part of a complex of lakes comprising Lake Hule, Lake Congo and Lake Bosque Alegre. The lakes are part of the Bosque Alegre Wildlife Refuge. Lake Congo ( es, Laguna Congo), is a fresh water crater lake located in the northern highlands of Costa Rica. It is part of a complex of lakes that also comprises Lake Hule and Lake Bosque Alegre. The three lakes are included in the Bosque Alegre Wildlife Refuge of the Costa Rica National Parks. Location It is located in Los Ángeles Sur, of Río Cuarto canton, of Alajuela province. Physical aspects Lake Congo is a maar lake located within a crater, sharing a geological depression with Lake Hule and Lake Congo. There is no secondary volcanic activity present.
