Rémi Casty
Rémi Casty (born 5 February 1985) is a former French international professional rugby league footballer and current assistant coach for Toulouse Olympique in the Super League. He played for the Sydney Roosters in 2014 before returning to Catalans. Background Casty was born in Narbonne, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. Playing career Catalans Dragons From being considered something of a fringe player during the Dragons first two seasons in the Super League, Casty matured and became an integral part of the French team, and regularly seen making hard yards from the interchange bench. Casty enjoyed an excellent season in 2012 which culminated in him being named in the Super League Dream Team. Narbonne ( , , ; ; ; Late Latin:) is a commune in Southern France in the Occitanie region. It lies from Paris in the Aude department, of which it is a sub-prefecture. The 2016 Rugby League Four Nations tournament (known as the 2016 Ladbrokes Four Nations, for sponsorship purposes) was the fifth staging of the Rugby League Four Nations tournament and was played in England in October and November. RLIF Awards
The RLIF Awards are the Rugby League International Federation's annual major international sporting award for rugby league. Since 2004 the awards ceremony recognises the best referee, coach, developing nations player, international newcomer, captain and a team of the year. In 2007, the RLIF did not organise any awards. To fill the gap, Rugby League World magazine asked its Golden Boot panel to come up with winners in the existing categories used by the RLIF. 2008 Rugby League World Cup
The 2008 Rugby League World Cup was the thirteenth World Cup for men’s rugby league national teams. It was held between 26 October and 22 November and was won by New Zealand, who defeated Australia 34–20 in the final in one of the greatest upsets in the sports history. Originally there was a plan to hold a World Cup in Australia in 2004, however the lack of competitiveness at the 2000 World Cup and rise of the Tri-Nations between Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain meant that plans for another World Cup were shelved. For the World Cup to regain some credibility, the number of teams was reduced to ten with Australia, England, France, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand automatically qualifying and a qualifying tournament to determine the other five teams. The 2013 Rugby League World Cup was the fourteenth World Cup for men’s national rugby league teams. It took place between the 26 October and 30 November and was hosted by England and Wales (although some games were played in France and Ireland). Australia won the tournament, beating New Zealand 34–2 in the final to lift the trophy for the tenth time. Originally planned to take place in 2012 it was moved back a year to avoid clashing with the London Olympics in 2012. It was the main event of the year's Festival of World Cups.
