Régine Gordine
Régine Gordine (1915–2012) was a French rally and circuit driver who was most active in the 1950s. Biography She was born Régine Mirielle Peter on 24 November 1915 in Besançon. (Some sources indicate her birth name was Bruno, and that Peter was her first husband's surname.) She participated in rallies before World War II, and after the war was recruited by Germaine Rouault to join her 1950 24 Hours of Le Mans entry. In 1952, she met film producer and amateur racer Sacha Gordine, whom she soon married. In 1955, she raced in the Monte Carlo Rally while pregnant with their son, Sacha Gordine Jr. The two led a glamorous life, mixing with movie stars and nobility. Gordine was sometimes styled Princess of Bashkir, a title she apparently inherited due to her husband's Russian aristocratic lineage. Delahaye 135
The Delahaye 135 is a luxury car manufactured by French automaker Delahaye. Designed by engineer Jean François, it was produced from 1935 until 1954 in many different body styles. A sporting tourer, it was also popular for racing. History The Delahaye 135, also known as "''Coupe des Alpes''" after its success in the Alpine Rally, was first presented in 1935 and signified Delahaye's decision to build sportier cars than before. The 3.2-litre overhead valve straight-six with four-bearing crankshaft was derived from one of Delahaye's truck engines and was also used in the more sedate, longer wheelbase () Delahaye 138. Power was in twin carburetor form, but were available in a version with three downdraught Solex carbs, offering a top speed. The 138 had a single carburetor and , and was available in a sportier iteration. Yvonne Marie Louise Simon (; 1910–1992) was a French racing driver who participated in rallying, circuit races and endurance racing. Biography Yvonne Marie Louise Simon (née Hémart) was born on 6 December 1910 in Charmont-sous-Barbuise, France. Other sources incorrectly report that she was born in 1917, in Troyes, Champagne-Ardenne or on 6 December 1906 in Charmont, Aube, France. Simon died on 16 August 1992 in Saint-Martin-de-Ré. Racing career Simon's racing career spanned the years from the mid-1930s to the mid-1950s. One of her earliest racing appearances was in the 1937 Rallye Paris – Saint-Raphaël Féminin. Although she did not win in 1937, she placed second on her first attempt and would go on to win this event four times, finishing first in the last race held prior to World War II in 1939, and in three consecutive events after the war in 1952, '53, and '54. Germaine Rouault
Germaine Rouault (16 August 1905 in Paris – 4 November 1982 in Sevran) was a French racing driver. Career Rouault came to motorsport in the 1930s and was supported by Odette Siko at the beginning of her career. Siko was a few years older and already an experienced racer. Rouault quickly rose in fame and popularity with her third place finish in the 1933 Monte Carlo Rally. She competed there six more times before the Second World War, regularly in French vehicles including Renault, Salmson and Matford. The event organized the Automobile Club de Monaco on the fashionable Côte d’Azur suited her style. The attractive Parisian was always stylishly dressed and was known to complete rallies wearing long skirts. The Simca 8 is a small family car built by Simca and sold in France between November 1937 and 1951 (including wartime), available as a saloon, coupé or cabriolet. It was a rebadged Fiat 508C "nuova Balilla" made at Fiat's Simca plant in Nanterre, France. Gordini () is a division of Renault Sport Technologies (Renault Sport). In the past, it was a sports car manufacturer and Car tuning, performance tuner, established in 1946 by Amédée Gordini (1899–1979), nicknamed "Le Sorcier" (The Sorcerer). Gordini became a division of Renault in 1968 and of Renault Sport in 1976. History Amédée Gordini tuned cars and competed in motor races since the 1930s. His results prompted Simca (the French assembler of Fiat) to hire him for its motorsport program and to develop road cars. Their association continued after World War II. In 1946, Gordini introduced the first cars bearing his name, Fiat-engined single-seaters raced by him and José Scaron, achieving several victories.
