Rågeleje
Rågeleje is a former fishing village and popular tourist resort on the north coast of Zealand, midway between Gilleleje and Tisvildeleje, some 50 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. As of 2024, it had a population of 700. History The fishing village The name Rågeleje was first mentioned in 1582 in the form Raageleie, meaning the harbour of Råge (1211 Roka), a no longer existing settlement. Rågeleje remained a quiet fishing community where the families supplemented their income with a bit of sheep herding until the late 19th century. The fishing village was located at the mouth of the Højbro Stream. The fisherman on the west side of the stream was traditionally known as the Vejby fishermen while the ones on the east side were known as the Hesselbjerg fishermen. Rågeleje had 55 residents in 1890 of which 13 were fishermen. Rågegården
Rågegården is an Arts & Crafts inspired country house from 1915 situated on the eastern outskirts of Rågeleje, Gribskov Municipality, some fifty kilometres northwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. The house is perched on a small wooded hill, overlooking the Kattegat coast. It was listed on the Listed buildings in Gribskov Municipality, Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1989. The scope of the heritage listing was expanded in 2012. History Henri Odewahn Henri Odewahn, one of the owners of C. J. Carøe, a leading Danish importer of tea and spices, purchased a 7 hectares piece of land at the site in 1914. A country house designed by Povl Baumann was completed on the property the following year. Based at Niels Brock House, Strandgade 36 in Copenhagen, C. J. Grethe Sønck
Grethe Sønck (born Grethe Ingeborg Nielsen Hald; 16 July 1929 – 12 February 2010)Grethe Sønck er død
was a Denmark, Danish actress and singer. She was born in Hjerm, near Struer, Denmark, Struer. In 1946, she won a talent contest, and in 1947, she became a singer at the Restaurant Sommerlyst at Dyrehavsbakken. As a revue actress, she started in Cirkusrevyen at Dyrehavsbakken in 1962, and later came to Nykøbing Falster Revue.


Personal life

Sønck first married Hjalmar Nicolausen from 1952 until 1960, then she married Sejr Volmer-Sørensen from 1968 until his death in 1982. In 1968, she changed her surname to Sønck.


Death

Grethe Sønck died on 12 February 2010 of death by natural causes, natural causes at age 80, in her Rågeleje home.

Povl Baumann
Povl Erik Raimund Baumann (9 November 1878 – 3 July 1963) was a Denmark, Danish architect who was a central figure during the transition from Neoclassical architecture, Neoclassicism to Functionalism (architecture), Functionalism in Danish residential architecture. In 1910, he was one of the founders of ''Den frie Architektforening'', an alternative architects' association, and headed it for the nine years it existed. Early life and education Baumann was born on 9 November 1878 in Copenhagen, the son of translator Heinrich Johann Raimund Baumann and Julie Augusta née Riise. He first enrolled at the Technical University of Denmark, College of Advanced Technology to become a building engineer but in 1888 discontinued his studies after just three semesters. Instead he took classes at a technical school from 1899 to 1901 while at the same time apprenticing as a mason. Albert Edvard Wang
Albert Edvard Wang (1 September 1864 - 19 December 1930) was a Danish landscape painter. History Wang was born on 1 September 1864 in Horsens, the son of merchant Søren Monberg Wang and Ane Cathrine Borg. He completed an apprenticeship as a building painter in his home town in 1882 but aspired to become an artist. He therefore enrolled at the Artists' Independent Art Schools in Copenhagen where he studied under Peder Severin Krøyer and Kristian Zahrtmann in 1886–1889. Career Landscape painting Wang specialized in landscape painting and painted his way through most of Denmark, although the countryside between Horsens and Juelsminde and North Zealand feature most prominently in his work. He has also painted in Norway. Wang was represented on many exhibitions, including the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibitions between 1889 and 1911. Valdemar Michael Amdrup (1 October 1860 - 11 May 1937) was a Danish lawyer and the second president of the Danish Society for Nature Conservation from 1915 to 21. Early life and education Amdrup was born on 1 October 1860, the son of banker Valdemar Amdrup and Line Michaelia Holm. He graduated from Værnedamsvejens Latin- og Realskole in 1878 and completed his law studies (cand. jur.) at the University of Copenhagen in 1884. Johan Ammentorp
Johan Ludvig Ammentorp (28 October 1860 – 11 June 1931) was a Danish medical doctor. He served as Chief Physician of the Medical Corps (''stabslæge'') from 1911 and as Physician General (''generallæge'') from 1916 to 1930. Early life and education Ammentorp was born on 28 October 1860 at Hvedholm Castle, the son of Hans Christian Ancher A. (1831–96) and Johanne Petrine Krøyer (1821–94). Claus Meyer (born 27 December 1963) is a Danish entrepreneur, cook and television host. He is often accredited as the founder of the New Nordic Cuisine philosophy.
