Ryerson Rams
The TMU Bold, formerly known as the Ryerson Rams, are the varsity athletic teams that represent Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Toronto Metropolitan University operates 11 men's and women's varsity teams that compete provincially as part of Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and nationally as part of U Sports. The team mascot is a falcon, who can be seen at most major events. The Saskatchewan Huskies are the athletics teams representing the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The university began their athletics program in 1907 and has competed with others since 1911. They currently compete in elite inter-university competition administered by U Sports and its members, both as regions and as individual institutions. The University of Saskatchewan is a member of the Canada West Regional Association, one of four such associations within U Sports. The Huskie Athletics program is administered at the University of Saskatchewan by the college of Kinesiology. The Ottawa Gee-Gees () are the athletic teams that represent the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario. The Gee-Gees won the national football championship, the Vanier Cup, in 1975 and 2000, while also appearing in the game in the 1970, 1980, and 1997 seasons. The Gee-Gees women's rugby team won the Molinex Trophy, national championship in 2017, and the women's soccer team were U Sports women's soccer championship, national champions in 1996 and 2018. The U Sports Women's Basketball Championship, branded as the Women's Basketball Final 8, is a Canadian university basketball tournament conducted by U Sports, and determines the women's national champion. The tournament involves the champions from each of Canada's four regional sports conferences. The Bronze Baby trophy is awarded to the winners. Seventeen different schools have won the tournament. The University of Victoria has the most tournament wins, with nine. Laurentian University has seven championships. The 2018 U Sports men's basketball championship was the 56th edition of the U Sports men's basketball championship, a postseason tournament to determine the national champion of the 2017–18 U Sports men's basketball season. The tournament was held March 8–11, 2018 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was hosted by Acadia University, which also hosted in 1971 on campus in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The tournament was held at the Scotiabank Centre for the second consecutive year, and was the 31st time the tournament had been played in Halifax. Carleton Ravens Men's Basketball
The Carleton Ravens men's basketball team represents Carleton University in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports men's basketball. The Ravens have captured 17 W. P. McGee Trophy national championship wins, more than any top division school in Canada or the United States, and are the reigning national champions (2023). In addition, the Ravens have earned the Wilson Cup, awarded to the OUA champions, 12 times: 2003 to 2005, 2008 to 2010, 2012 to 2013, 2015, and 2018 to 2020. On the same day in 2023 (March 12), both the men’s and women’s teams won the national title, something no school had accomplished since 1985, when the Victoria Vikes were double champions. The 2017 U Sports Men's Basketball Championship was held March 9–12, 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to determine a national champion for the 2016–17 U Sports men's basketball season. It was hosted by Dalhousie University at the Scotiabank Centre, the first time since 1987 that Dalhousie hosted the tournament. The Carleton Ravens won their seventh straight title, their 13th in 15 years, this time over the Ryerson Rams, who came into the tournament ranked number one in the country. The Dalhousie Tigers took their first ever bronze medal by defeating the McGill Redmen.
