Ryerson Radio may refer to one of several radio broadcasting efforts based at Toronto Metropolitan University (previously Ryerson University) since 1948: * CJRT-FM, was owned by what was then the Ryerson Institute of Technology from 1949 until 1974 when it became publicly owned. The station became professionally staffed in 1964. Its programming included accredited Open College on-air university courses from 1971 until 2003. Its studios were on Ryerson's campus until 2006. *Ryerson Community Radio was a closed-circuit radio station operated on campus. Founded in 1970 which continued into the early 1980s when it evolved into CKLN-FM. CJRT-FM (91.1 MHz) is a Canadian public radio station and charitable arts organization in Toronto, Ontario, known as ''JAZZ.FM91''. The studios are on Pardee Avenue in the Liberty Village neighbourhood of Toronto. Open College (Toronto)
Open College was a radio-based university-credit distance education provider based in Toronto, Canada; it primarily served listeners in Ontario. Founded in 1971, the courses were accredited by Toronto Metropolitan University (then known as Ryerson Polytechnic Institute) and York University's Atkinson College and broadcast throughout Toronto and much of southern Ontario on what was then Toronto Metropolitan owned radio station CJRT-FM, CJRT which produced and administered the courses. The service was conceived of by the Dean of Arts of Ryerson Polytechnic Institute who was inspired by the creation of Open University in the United Kingdom, which used radio and television to broadcast some of its credit courses. CKLN-FM was a community radio station based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From 1983 to 2011, CKLN Radio Inc. was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission as a campus-community FM radio station affiliated with Ryerson University, and broadcast at 88.1 MHz on the FM dial with the call sign CKLN-FM. It ceased FM broadcasting on April 15, 2011, after its licence was revoked on January 28, 2011 and continued as an internet radio outlet until it ceased operations on December 26, 2011. CJTM
CJTM, branded as Met Radio, is a low-powered AM campus and community radio station, owned and operated by Radio Ryerson Inc. at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), which was granted a broadcast license by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on December 11, 2014. The station broadcasts on 1280 kHz with a signal strength of 99 watts as well as online. The station officially launched on the AM band under the call sign CJRU on March 31, 2016, after several weeks of test transmissions. The 1280 AM frequency was previously used by CFBN. The RTA School of Media is a school within the Creative School at Toronto Metropolitan University located in the Rogers Communications Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It offers two Bachelor of Arts (Media Production and Sport Media) and a Masters of Arts (Media Production). It was previously named "The School of Radio and Television Arts" and as such is and was commonly referred to as "RTA". It offers the only 4-year broadcasting degree programs in Canada and is reputed as one of the best media programs in the world.
