Route Ryde Road commences at the interchange with Pacific Highway (Australia), Pacific Highway, between Pymble, New South Wales, Pymble and Gordon, New South Wales, Gordon, connecting through a tunnel under Pacific Highway from Mona Vale Road and heads in a southwesterly direction as a six-lane, dual-carriageway road, through the suburb of West Pymble, New South Wales, West Pymble. Ryde Road terminates at the De Burghs Bridge crossing the Lane Cove River, where the road continues south as Lane Cove Road. Ryde Road forms the only road connection between the Ku-ring-gai and Ryde local government areas, and is one of only four road crossings of the Lane Cove River. It is often a traffic bottleneck. Metroads were the primary road routes serving the Sydney and Brisbane metropolitan areas from the 1990s to the early 2010s. Pittwater Road is a major arterial road along the coast of the Northern Beaches suburbs of Sydney, Australia, the majority of which is a constituent part of the A8 route. Route Pittwater Road commences at the intersection with McCarrs Creek Road at Church Point and heads in a southerly direction as a two-lane, single-carriageway road through Bayview, intersecting with Barrenjoey Road in Mona Vale, where it widens to a four-lane, dual-carriageway road, and meets Mona Vale Road shortly afterwards (with additional bus lanes in both directions). Main Roads Board
The Main Roads Board was an agency of the Government of New South Wales, responsible for planning, constructing and maintaining road infrastructure in New South Wales, Australia. History The Main Roads Board (MRB) was founded on 1 January 1925 pursuant to the Main Roads Act 1924. It took over responsibility of the New South Wales road network from local councils. It also took over the council's loans from the New South Wales Treasury. At the time of its formation, it was responsible for 20,700 kilometres of roads. The MRB ceased to exist on 22 March 1932 with its functions transferred to the Ways & Works Branch. It was succeeded by the Department of Main Roads in December 1932. De Burghs Bridge is a road bridge that carries the Lane Cove Road, part of the A3, across the Lane Cove River in Macquarie Park, Sydney, Australia. The bridge stretches from Macquarie Park in the south to West Pymble in the north. History The current De Burghs Bridge is the second bridge with this name to cross the Lane Cove River in this area. First bridge The first bridge with this name was designed in 1899 by Ernest de Burgh, after whom the bridge is named, and was opened on 23 February 1901. It was situated downstream from the current bridge, within metres at the southern end, and about away from the current bridge at the northern end.
