Ryan McKee
Ryan McKee (born November 4, 1986, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas) is an American football offensive tackle who is currently a free agent. He was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at Southern Mississippi. McKee also spent 3 games on the St. Louis Rams active roster in 2009, as well as being on the team's practice squad from 2010 to 2012. Early years McKee attended Daphne High School, Alabama, and was a two-year letter winner there. He finished senior season without allowing a sack all year and was voted All-district and All-county. The year before, as a junior, helped the team to a 14–1 record and a berth in the state championship game. College career McKee started three consecutive seasons at right tackle for Southern Mississippi and graduated in December 2008, with a degree in business administration. 2009 NFL Draft
The 2009 NFL Draft was the seventy-fourth annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft consisted of two rounds on the first day, starting at 4:00 pm EDT, and five rounds on the second day, starting at 10:00 am EDT. To compensate for the time change from the previous year and in an effort to help shorten the draft, teams were no longer on the clock for 15 minutes in the first round and 10 minutes in the second round. Each team now had 10 minutes to make their selection in the first round and seven minutes in the second round. Rounds three through seven were shortened to five minutes per team. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster.
