Ryan McCone
Ryan James McCone (born 5 September 1987) is a former New Zealand domestic cricketer, who played for Canterbury and Central Districts. He is a left-hand batsman and left-arm medium bowler. He made his début in the New Zealand State Championship in March 2009 and, with a century, became the first débutante number nine batsman to score a hundred. Career Early life Born in September 1987 in Christchurch, Canterbury, McCone grew up as a batsman, attended Cathedral Grammar School in Canterbury, where he scored 102* aged 12 or 13. When he reached the age of 16 he became a bowler, as he reached St. Andrew's School and their First XI cricket team. He also played for Lancaster Park-Woolston Cricket Club, batting at number three as well as at seven, eight or nine, and was also the club's leading wicket taker prior to his selection for Canterbury. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Kruger Van Wyk
Cornelius Francoius Kruger van Wyk (born 7 February 1980) is a former New Zealand cricketer who plays for the Central Districts Stags. He is a wicketkeeper-batsman. He has played professionally in South Africa and New Zealand, and at club level in Scotland. He attended Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Afrikaans High School for Boys, also known as Affies), a popular and renowned public school located in Pretoria. Domestic career Born and raised in South Africa, van Wyk started his first class career with Northerns in 2000/01 season. However, any hope of breaking into the South African team was diminished by Mark Boucher's long-term hold on the position. He moved to New Zealand on the encouragement of his coach, and started playing for the Canterbury Wizards from the 2006/07 season. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. New Zealand has had a domestic first-class cricket championship since the 1906–07 season. Since the 2009–10 season it has been known by its original name of the Plunket Shield. History The Plunket Shield competition was instigated in October 1906 with the donation of a shield by William Plunket, 5th Baron Plunket, who was the Governor-General of New Zealand from 1904 to 1910. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the county cricket, inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 over (cricket), overs. Together with first-class cricket, first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level.
