Ryan Elliott (hurler)
Ryan Elliott (born 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays for Antrim Senior Championship club Dunloy and at inter-county level with the Antrim senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a goalkeeper. Career A member of the Dunloy club, Elliott first came to prominence with the club's senior team that won County Championship titles in 2017 and 2019. He made his first appearance on the inter-county scene as a member of the Antrim under-21 team during the 2018 Leinster Championship. Elliott made his debut with the Antrim senior hurling team during the 2018 National Hurling League and lined out in goal for their 2020 Joe McDonagh Cup success. 2018 National Hurling League
The 2018 National Hurling League was the 87th season of the National Hurling League for county teams. Wexford finished top of Division 1B in 2017 and were promoted to Division 1A for 2018. Galway finished second in Division 1B in 2017 and so missed out on promotion, even though they subsequently won the Division 1 league final. Cavan re-entered the National Hurling League in Division 3B, having previously withdrawn. Lancashire also entered in Division 3B for the first time. Eir Sport and TG4 provided live TV coverage of the league on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons respectively. Joe McDonagh Cup
The Joe McDonagh Cup () is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The cup forms the second-tier of Hurling for senior county teams (the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship is the first-tier trophy). It is contested by the six county teams ranked 12–17 in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Each year, the champions of the Joe McDonagh Cup are promoted to their Province (Gaelic games)#Provincial championships, provincial championship, and the lowest finishing team is relegated to the Christy Ring Cup. The cup is named in honour of Joe McDonagh, the former president of the Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA who died in 2016. The 2020 Joe McDonagh Cup was the third staging of the Joe McDonagh Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 2018 Joe McDonagh Cup, 2018. The competition was initially scheduled to begin on 10 May 2020 and end on 29 June 2020. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, the first-round games were delayed until 25 October 2020. Laois GAA, Laois, the 2019 champions, were promoted to the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, while Offaly GAA, Offaly were relegated to the Christy Ring Cup.
