Ryan Bauer-Walsh
Ryan Bauer-Walsh is an American actor, singer, and visual artist. As a performer, Bauer-Walsh has appeared in the first national tour of Billy Elliott, and as Jake in the 2014 Encores! production of The Most Happy Fella. He has also been featured in concerts at Birdland (New York jazz club), Birdland and 54 Below, and in 2015 reprised his performance of Jake at the Metropolitan Room with Broadway actor Arlo Hill. Bauer-Walsh also appeared as Zorro in the international tour of Zorro (musical), Zorro the musical, and Off Broadway as Pietro in the world premiere of the musical Gesualdo: Death for Five Voices, Death for Five Voices. As an artist, Bauer-Walsh's illustrations and paintings have been used as set projections for the New York City Opera and the Coterie Opera, as well as appearing in private collections. The Hartt School Of Music
The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford located in West Hartford, Connecticut, United States, that offers degree programs in music, dance, and theatre. Founded in 1920 by Julius Hartt and Moshe Paranov, Hartt has been part of the University of Hartford since its charter merged the then Hartt College of Music, the Hartford Art School, and Hillyer College to create the university in 1957. Encores!
Encores! is a Tony-honored concert series dedicated to performing rarely heard American musicals, usually with their original orchestrations. Presented by New York City Center since 1994, Encores! has revived shows by Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim, among many others. Encores! was the brainchild of Judith Daykin, who launched the series shortly after becoming Executive Director of City Center in 1992. Besides initiating Encores!, Daykin is credited for turning City Center from a rental hall into a presenting organization. The Most Happy Fella
''The Most Happy Fella'' is a 1956 musical with a book, music, and lyrics by Frank Loesser. The story, about a romance between an older man and younger woman, is based on the 1924 play '' They Knew What They Wanted'' by Sidney Howard. The show is described by some theatre historians and critics as operatic. The original Broadway production ran for 14 months and it has enjoyed several revivals, including one staged by the New York City Opera. It was broadcast in a live telecast of the Ed Sullivan show on Sunday, October 28, 1956, the night of Elvis Presley's second appearance on that show. That broadcast was seen in some 168 stations in North America and garnered a 34.6 rating, a 57% share, with an estimated audience of 56.5 million viewers. Birdland is a jazz club started in New York City on December 15, 1949. The original Birdland, which was located at 1678 Broadway (Manhattan), Broadway, just north of West 52nd Street (Manhattan), 52nd Street in Manhattan, was closed in 1965 due to increased rents, but it re-opened for one night in 1979. A revival began in 1986 with the opening of the second nightclub by the same name that is now located in Manhattan's Theater District, Manhattan, Theater District, not far from the original nightclub's location. ''Zorro'' is a musical with music by the Gipsy Kings and John Cameron, a book by Stephen Clark and Helen Edmundson, and lyrics by Stephen Clark. It is inspired by the 2005 fictional biography ''Zorro'', the first original story of the pulp hero Zorro, written by Chilean author Isabel Allende (itself a prequel to the events of the original Zorro story which is the 1919 novella '' The Curse of Capistrano'' by Johnston McCulley, but excludes the mute butler Bernardo). It also contains numerous references to earlier Zorro-related works, especially the 1998 film '' The Mask of Zorro''. ''Gesualdo: Death for Five Voices'' (German: ''Tod für fünf Stimmen'') is a 1995 film by German director Werner Herzog filmed for ZDF television. The film explores the music of Carlo Gesualdo and the legends surrounding Gesualdo's personality, his cursed castle, and his murder of his wife and her lover. Between narration and interviews, several of Gesualdo's madrigals are performed. Herzog calls ''Death for Five Voices'' "one of the films closest to my heart." Synopsis The film begins in the ruins of Gesualdo's castle, where a worker is giving a tour. The New York City Opera (NYCO) is an American opera company located in Manhattan in New York City. The company has been active from 1943 through 2013 (when it filed for bankruptcy), and again since 2016 when it was revived. The opera company, dubbed "the people's opera" by New York Mayor Fiorello La Guardia, was founded in 1943. The company's stated purpose was to make opera accessible to a wide audience at a reasonable ticket price.
