Rux
Rux is an influential street punk band from South Korea. They formed in 1996 and released their first recording in 1999. Lead vocalist Won Jong-hee, the only remaining original member, also ran Skunk Label and owned the punk music venue Skunk Hell. They gained notoriety in 2005 when MBC TV (South Korean TV channel)#2005 — Live Music Camp incident, friends of the band undressed on stage during the live nationwide broadcast of an episode of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, MBC concert show ''Show! Music Core, Music Camp''. History Rux was formed in 1996 when the punk music scene centered on Club Drug and Crying Nut. The name "Rux" is synonymous with "Ruckus". Rux released several songs on compilations and went through numerous personnel changes before releasing the seven-song compilation ''I Gatta Go''. MBC TV (South Korean TV Channel)
MBC TV (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation Television) is a South Korean free-to-air television channel launched on 8 August 1969 and owned by Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation. History The Seoul Private Broadcasting Corporation was established on 21 February 1961. On 22 June 1966, the company received a broadcasting license from the government and started broadcasting on terrestrial television on 8 August 1969, with a 20-minute opening ceremony at 6pm. Its first drama, ''Lovers of the Sun'', came on air the following day. At the time of its launch, South Korea had 200,000 registered television sets. Rumkicks
Rumkicks () is a punk rock band from Seoul, South Korea, formed in 2018 by Jung Yeawon and bassist Choi Seun. The name Rumkicks was chosen to be something neutral that doesn't hint at the members' gender. Yeawon said it doesn't have any deeper meaning, and she doesn't particularly like rum. She added that she took some inspiration from Australian band The Rumjacks. Known for their spiky look and genuine, fed-up lyrics that address social issues and mental health, Rumkicks have turned heads all around the world. They have toured extensively, including the UK, the US, Europe, China, and Japan. They've been included on the lineup at Rebellion Festival 2022, 2023 and 2024. Galaxy Express (South Korean Band)
Galaxy Express () is a punk rock, garage rock band from South Korea that formed in 2006. The trio, which is known for its energetic stage presence, is one of the most popular rock bands in South Korea and has received international acclaim. Career Galaxy Express was formed in 2005 and debuted in 2007 with the EP, ''To The Galaxy.'' In 2007, drummer Yoon Hong-gu suffered a hand injury, leading to the recruitment of Kim Hee-kwon, a percussionist with a background in classical music. Their first full-length album, 2008's ''Noise On Fire'', won Best Rock Album at the 2009 Korean Music Awards. To make their second full-length album, 2010's ''Wild Days,'' the band posted songs online and asked fans for feedback before recording final versions. Mullae-dong
Mullae-dong () is a '' dong'' (neighborhood) of Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, South Korea. The name "Mullae" comes from the neighborhood's old name, "Moraet-mal ()," which means "Sandy Village" in Korean. The neighborhood is most well known for its industrial factories. Because the neighborhood is one the least gentrified areas of Seoul a lot of factories— that manufacture a variety of goods from textile to steel— are present in the area. In fact, there is a street nicknamed "steel factory street" (철공소 거리) due to the abundancy of Metal fabrication factories. Mullae-dong is also known for art. Numerous art studios in which art exhibitions are sporadically conducted, as well as metal sculptures and commercial graffiti, can be found around the neighborhood. Hongdae Area
Hongdae () is a neighborhood in Mapo District, Seoul, South Korea, near Hongik University ("Hongik Daehakgyo" in Korean), after which it is named. The neighborhood is known for its urban arts and indie music culture, local shops, clubs, cafés and entertainment. The area is located in Mapo District in the western end of Seoul, stretching from Seogyo-dong, Hapjeong-dong & Seogang-dong. Characteristics The Hongdae area grew under the influence of Hongik University (Hongdae), a prestigious private university known for its Fine Arts Program, attracting people in the arts from the 1990s. Rosetta Stone
The Rosetta Stone is a stele of granodiorite inscribed with three versions of a Rosetta Stone decree, decree issued in 196 BC during the Ptolemaic dynasty of ancient Egypt, Egypt, on behalf of King Ptolemy V Epiphanes. The top and middle texts are in Egyptian language, Ancient Egyptian using Egyptian hieroglyphs, hieroglyphic and Demotic (Egyptian), Demotic scripts, respectively, while the bottom is in Ancient Greek. The decree has only minor differences across the three versions, making the Rosetta Stone key to decipherment of ancient Egyptian scripts, deciphering the Egyptian scripts.
