Ruwan Chathuranga (born 13 May 1989) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Moors Sports Club in the 2016–17 Premier League Tournament on 20 January 2017. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but the term was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Moors Sports Club
Moors Sports Club is a first-class cricket team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. History Moors Sports Club was founded in 1908 by members of Colombo Grand Mosque at New Moor Street in the Colombo neighbourhood of Pettah. Like most clubs founded during the colonial era it was founded on ethno-religious lines and catered to the minority Moorish community. The club later moved to its present location at Muttiah Road in the neighbourhood of Slave Island. Sir Razik Fareed laid the foundation stone for a Club House on 25 September 1936 and Governor Sir Edward Stubbs declared open the pavilion on 27 February 1937. The first inter-club match at the venue was between the Moors SC and Kalutara Town Club. In 1983 the first professional players were contracted with the advent of professional cricket and the Sri Lanka national cricket team gaining Test status. 2016–17 Premier League Tournament
The 2016–17 Premier League Tournament was the 29th season of first-class cricket in Sri Lanka's Premier Trophy. Fourteen teams competed, split into two groups of seven. Burgher Recreation Club replaced Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club, who were relegated from the previous years' tournament, after finishing bottom of the Plate League. List A Cricket
List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, most commonly fifty overs, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. 2016–17 Districts One Day Tournament
The 2016–17 Districts One Day Tournament was a List A cricket competition that took place in Sri Lanka. It replaced the scheduled Premier Limited Overs Tournament, after a legal challenge from Negombo Cricket Club, after they were removed from Tier B of the 2016–17 Premier League Tournament. The challenge stopped the Premier Limited Overs Tournament from taking place, but Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) organised this tournament to replace it. The tournament started on 15 March 2017, with 24 teams split into eight groups of three, with the matches given List A status.
