Ruud Van Empel
Ruud van Empel (born 21 November 1958 in Breda) is a Dutch photographer and visual artist. Biography Ruud van Empel was born in Breda in 1958. He studied at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst St. Joost (St Joost Academy of Art) in Breda in the 1970s, and began making independently produced videotapes in the eighties. He moved to Amsterdam in the late eighties to work on his career as a visual artist. His first photographic series were ''The Office'' (1995-2001), ''Study for Women'' (1999-2002) and ''Study in Green'' (2003). The Groninger Museum presented his first solo exhibition in 1999. He made his international breakthrough with his series ''World-Moon-Venus'', which was shown in the George Eastman House in Rochester, New York State. FotoArtFestival
FotoArtFestival is an international art photography ''biennale'' organized since 2005 in October in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, by the Centre for Photography Foundation. It is one of the most important events in the field of photography in Poland. Details During each festival there are organised several solo exhibitions which last two weeks. The most important day is the Authors' Marathon (the first weekend of the festival), during which most of the authors of the exhibitions talk about their work and experiences. Uncanny
The uncanny is the psychological experience of something as not simply mysterious, but creepy, often in a strangely familiar way. It may describe incidents where a familiar thing or event is encountered in an unsettling, eerie, or taboo context.D. Bate, ''Photography and Surrealism'' (2004) pp. 39–40. Fotomuseum Antwerp, also known as FOMU, is a museum of photography in Antwerp, Belgium. History and programme The museum opened in 1986. The Fotomuseum in Antwerp has a historical and contemporary collection of photography that is given a new presentation every year. Valkhof Museum
The Valkhof Museum ( nl, Museum Het Valkhof) is an archaeology and art museum in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The museum has existed since 1999, created as a merger between the G. M. Kam museum of archaeology and the Commanderie van St. Jan museum of classical and modern art. The museum's collection includes a large and important collection of local Roman archaeological finds and art (mostly modern). The museum stands on the edge of the Valkhof park, site of a Roman army camp and a citadel built by Charlemagne. The museum's building was designed by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel and was opened on 14 September 1999 by Queen Beatrix.
