Norwegian People
Norwegians () are an ethnic group and nation native to Norway, where they form the vast majority of the population. They share a common culture and speak the Norwegian language. Ole Kristian Ruud
Ole Kristian Ruud (born 2 October 1958) is a Norwegian conductor. Ruud was born in Lillestrøm. He studied clarinet with Richard Kjelstrup at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He studied conducting at the Sibelius Academy and made his debut in Oslo with the National theater. Ruud was principal conductor of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra from 1987-1995 and of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra from 1996-1999. In 1999, he became one of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra's artistic directors, specializing in Norwegian repertoire. He has been professor of conducting at the Norwegian Academy of Music since 1999. In 1992, he was awarded the Grieg Prize, and in 1993 conducted Edvard Grieg's complete incidental music to ''Peer Gynt'' with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London's Royal Festival Hall. Nils Johan Rud
Nils Johan Rud (24 July 1908 – 7 June 1993) was a Norwegian novelist, writer of short stories, children's writer, and a magazine editor. He is particularly known for his long-term period as editor of the magazine ''Arbeidermagasinet'' / ''Magasinet For Alle''. Personal life Nils Johan Rud was born in Ringsaker as the son of Mons Nilsen Rud and Emma Johanne Nergaard. He married Aase Gudlaug Hellum in 1934, and is the father of Jazz drummer Espen Rud. He died in Asker in 1993. Career Rud published the children's book ''Gutter på skoggang'' in 1928, and continued writing children's books. In 1930 came ''Karsemne'', in 1931 ''Skaugumtrollet'', and ''Tusser og troll'' in 1934. He wrote ''Stifinner'' in 1935, and ''Et riktig mannfolk'' in 1936, all books for children. Jon Raahauge Rud (born 11 February 1986) is a Danish swimmer. He participated for the first time at the 2008 Olympics in the 200 metre freestyle and the 400 metre freestyle. In July 2007, Rud competed at the Danish Open in Aarhus, Denmark with the West Swim Esbjerg swimming club. He finished second in the Men's 400 metre freestyle, second in the Men's 200 metre freestyle, third in the Men's 800 metre freestyle relay, fifth in the Men's 400 metre freestyle relay, and fourth in the Men's 400 metre medley relay. In March 2008, Rud finished eighth in the 400 metre freestyle at the European Championships held in Eindhoven (Netherlands). William Nelson Ruud (born September 29, 1952) is an American academic and former university administrator. On May 1, 2025, he was announced as the 19th President of Carroll College located in Helena, Montana. He was previously president of Marietta College, the University of Northern Iowa, and Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. Early life and education Ruud was born in North Dakota. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in public administration and hospital administration from the University of North Dakota. Thomas Robert Ruud (born July 26, 1953) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). At 6'3" 223 lb, he played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1972- 74. At the 1975 NFL draft, Ruud was selected in the first round (19th overall) by the Buffalo Bills.
