Bayard Rustin
Bayard Rustin ( ; March 17, 1912 – August 24, 1987) was an American political activist and prominent leader in social movements for civil rights, socialism, nonviolence, and gay rights. Rustin was the principal organizer of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963. Rustin worked in 1941 with A. Philip Randolph on the March on Washington Movement to press for an end to racial discrimination in the military and defense employment. Rustin later organized Freedom Riders, Freedom Rides, and helped to organize the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to strengthen Martin Luther King Jr.'s leadership; he taught King about non-violence. Rustin worked alongside Ella Baker, a co-director of the Crusade for Citizenship, in 1954; and before the Montgomery bus boycott, he helped organize a group called "In Friendship" to provide material and legal assistance to people threatened with eviction from their tenant farms and homes. Jean Rustin
Jean Rustin (3 March 1928 – 24 December 2013) was a French painter and prominent figurative artist. Biography Rustin was born at Montigny-lès-Metz on 3 March 1928. At the age of 19 he moved to Paris where he studied at the School of Fine Arts, in the studio of Untersteller. During the 1950s he was mainly preoccupied with abstract painting but from the 1970s he embarked on figuration. He created a bizarre world of human figures, where an existential dead-end is transformed into fright, abhorrence, pity but also relief. The artist stated that....."I realize that behind my artistic creation, behind the fascination for the naked body, there are twenty centuries of painting, primarily religious, twenty centuries of dead Christs, tortured martyrs, gory revolutions, massacres and shattered dreams ..I realize that history and maybe art history are engraved on the body and flesh of men....." Rick Johnson (born January 2, 1961) is a former all-star quarterback in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Johnson played college football for the Southern Illinois Salukis, where he was starting quarterback on the team that won the 1983 NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship Game. He was picked in the second round of the 1984 Supplemental Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. He played in the United States Football League for the Oklahoma/Arizona Outlaws in 1984. He moved to Canada in 1985, and played for the Calgary Stampeders. He was a CFL All-Star in 1986. After retiring from football, Johnson became an actor and movie director. He starred in the 1995 thriller film ''Point of Betrayal'' as a man trying to drive his mother insane in order to take her money away.
