War In Donbas (2014–2022)
The war in Donbas, or the Donbas war, was a phase of the Russo-Ukrainian War in the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine. The war began in April 2014, when Russian paramilitaries seized several towns. Ukraine's military launched an operation against them, but failed to fully retake the territory. Covertly, Russia's military were directly involved, and the separatists were largely under Russian control. The war continued until subsumed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Law Of Ukraine
The legal system of Ukraine is based on civil law, and belongs to the Romano-Germanic legal tradition. The main source of legal information is codified law. Customary law and case law are not as common, though case law is often used in support of the written law, as in many other legal systems. Historically, the Ukrainian legal system is primarily influenced by the French civil code, Roman Law, and traditional Ukrainian customary law. The new civil law books (enacted in 2004) were heavily influenced by the German Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch. The Russia–Ukraine barrier, also known as the Ukrainian Wall or the European Wall (), and officially called "Project Wall" () in Ukraine, is a fortified border barrier built on the Ukrainian side of the Russia–Ukraine border. Early construction began following the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2014, as the Ukrainian government sought to prevent any further incursions by Russia into Ukrainian territory following the Russian annexation of Crimea and the Russian-backed separatist uprising in the Donbas. The Donbas (, ; ) or Donbass ( ) is a historical, cultural, and economic region in eastern Ukraine. The majority of the Donbas is occupied by Russia as a result of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
