Boris Feoktistov
Boris Feoktistov is a composer and conductor of Russian Orthodox liturgical chants. He has written musical compositions for piano, vocalists, for orchestra and has scored films. He began his musical studies at a young age, learning the violin while in school. He later attended a school for music, but was drafted into the army and did not graduate. In the 1970s, he was blessed by Philaret (Vakhromeyev), becoming a precentor at Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. In 1993, Feoktistov was invited to an exhibition to conduct a choir in dedication of the 75th anniversary of the murder of the Imperial family. 99 Records was an American independent record label, active from 1980 to 1984. The label was home to musicians in the no wave, post-punk, post-disco, and avant-garde scenes in New York City. History British designer Gina Franklyn sold British fashions out of her shop 99, located at 99 MacDougal Street in New York's Greenwich Village. She began dating Ed Bahlman, who sold independent singles out of the store. During trips to England, he and Franklyn brought back suitcases of music, particularly from Rough Trade. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). William Otis Laswell (born February 12, 1955) is an American bass guitarist, record producer, and record label owner. He has been involved in thousands of recordings with many collaborators from all over the world. His music draws from funk, world music, jazz, dub, and ambient styles. According to music critic Chris Brazier, "Laswell's pet concept is 'collision music' which involves bringing together musicians from wildly divergent but complementary spheres and seeing what comes out." The credo of one record label run by Laswell which typifies much of his work is "Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted".
