Russell Mullins
Russell Mullins (born 3 August 1952 died 23 June 2025) nicknamed "Flight" was an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s. He played for Western Suburbs and Penrith in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Background Mullins is the brother of Bill Mullins and uncle of Brett Mullins. Playing career Mullins made his first grade debut for Western Suburbs in 1971. The club would go on to finish last that season and claim the wooden spoon. In 1973, Mullins finished as the club's top try scorer with 8 tries. In 1974, Mullins again finished as the club's top try scorer with 15 tries as Wests made the finals and eventually the preliminary final against Eastern Suburbs. The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) is an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as the club is commonly referred to, was one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia. The club, as a sole entity, departed the top-flight competition in 1999 after forming a 50–50 joint venture with Balmain Tigers to form the Wests Tigers. Bill Mullins
William Mullins (born 30 January 1948) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played during the 1960s and 1970s in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership, the major rugby league competition in Australia at the time. Career Eastern Suburbs Roosters A former professional runner, Mullins played his junior football with the Canterbury-Bankstown club before joining Eastern Suburbs in 1968 where he played 190 first grade matches in the years until 1978. At the time of his retirement, he was the club's leading try-scorer with 104 tries. A tall, powerfully built , Mullins played in some of the great Easts sides of the seventies, winning premierships in 1974 and 1975, and finishing runners up in 1972 Grand Final. He also won pre-season cups in 1974 and 1977, mid-week cups in 1975 and 1978. Brett Mullins
Brett Mullins (born 21 January 1972) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s, and early 2000s. A New South Wales State of Origin and Australian international representative back, he played his club football for Australian clubs the Canberra Raiders and Sydney Roosters, and for English club, the Leeds Rhinos. He was described as "one of the most exciting attacking weapons in rugby league." Brett Mullins played in 209 first grade games during his 12-year career in Australia (183 for Canberra, 26 for the Roosters), during which he scored 105 tries for the Raiders and 17 for the Roosters and was equal second with Canberra teammate Jason Croker on the league's try scoring list in 1994 with 22 (Brisbane Broncos, Brisbane's Steve Renouf top scored with 23).
