Russell Hamilton McBean
Captain Russell Hamilton McBean Distinguished Service Order, DSO Distinguished Service Cross (United Kingdom), DSC (3 March 1894 – 30 September 1963) was an officer in the Royal Navy and was one of the men who took part in the Raid on Kronstadt in August 1919. McBean was born in 1894, the son of Lieutenant-Commander Thomas McBean RNVR, and his wife Jessie Mouat Russell of Hallow Park, Hallow, Worcestershire, and nephew of Colonel Alexander McBean. He joined the Royal Navy and served in both World Wars. He entered Osborne as a cadet in January 1907. He was a sub-lieutenant of the destroyers and during the first part of the First World War During the First World War he was at Battle of Jutland, Jutland and then became the second young officer to volunteer for service in Coastal Motor Boats (May 1916), and was with the force that led the attack on Zeebrugge and Ostend. Captain (Royal Navy)
Captain (Capt.) is a senior officer rank of the Royal Navy. It ranks above commander and below commodore and has a NATO ranking code of OF-5. The rank is equivalent to a colonel in the British Army and Royal Marines, and to a group captain in the Royal Air Force. There are similarly named equivalent ranks in the navies of many other countries. Imperial War Museum
The Imperial War Museum (IWM), currently branded "Imperial War Museums", is a British national museum. It is headquartered in London, with five branches in England. Founded as the Imperial War Museum in 1917, it was intended to record the civil and military war effort and sacrifice of the United Kingdom and its Empire during the First World War. Augustus Agar
Augustus Willington Shelton Agar, (4 January 1890 – 30 December 1968) was a Royal Navy officer in both the First and the Second World Wars. He was a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces, for sinking a Soviet cruiser during the Russian Civil War. In his naval biography, ''Footprints in the Sea'', published in 1961, Agar described himself as "highly strung and imaginative." The ''Oxford Dictionary of National Biography'' says that Agar "epitomizes the 'sea dog' of British naval tradition: honourable, extremely brave and totally dedicated to King, country and the Royal Navy." The Muthaiga Country Club is a country club in Nairobi, Kenya. It is located in the suburb of Muthaiga, about 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre. The Muthaiga Country Club opened on New Year's Eve in 1913, and became a gathering place for the colonial British settlers in British East Africa, which became the Colony of Kenya in 1920. Founding history One of the club's main founders was The Hon Berkeley Cole (1882–1925), an Anglo-Irish aristocrat from Ulster. Cole was a son of the 4th Earl of Enniskillen and was a brother of The Hon Lowry Cole (1881–1929).
