Ruslan Chinakhov
Ruslan Yuryevich Chinakhov (; born 25 January 1992) is a Russian professional primarily nine-ball pool (billiards), pool player. Ruslan was the WPA World Nine-ball Championship, world nine-ball Juniors champion in 2009. Chinakhov has won several events, including the Euro Tour ''Dutch Open 2017'', defeating Christoph Reintjes in the final. Career Ruslan entered his first tournament in 2005, at the age of 13, at the Russian pool championships. The following year, he won the 2006 Kremlin Cup 9-Ball event. Chinakhov reached his first semi-finals of a Euro Tour event the following year in 2007, doing so at the ''Netherlands Open 2007'', losing to Imran Majid 10–7. The World Nine-ball Championships are held annually, and are sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Association. Events have been held for boys and women, and for the main world championships since this time, with a girl's tournament being created in 2004. In 2013, the men's championship was changed from being inclusive for all to a men's only event. From 2021, the main tournament became all inclusive once again, while the women's event was discontinued. In 1999, two men's tournaments were held, with one being run by the World Pool Association, held in Spain, and the other not recognised, held in Wales and known as the '' 1999 World Pool Championship''. Derby City Classic
The Derby City Classic is an annual pool convention and tournament held every January at the Caesars Southern Indiana casino in Elizabeth, Indiana, near Louisville, Kentucky. It is eight days long and offers various disciplines of competition for pool players of all caliber. It is often referred to as the DCC. History The annual convention has been in existence since 1997. Diamond Billiard Products, is the title sponsor of the event, and the lead tournament promoter is Greg Sullivan. Over $100,000 is to the tournament payouts. Sullivan was inspired to create the DCC by the Johnston City Classic, a former all-around tournament held in Johnston City, Illinois and first organized in 1961 with the purpose of bringing America's top pool gamblers together. The Kremlin Cup () is an annual pool tournament held in the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia which has been held since 2011. World Series Of Snooker 2008/2009
The World Series of Snooker was played for the first time in the 2008/2009 season. Although there was a previous incarnation of the event organised by Matchroom Sport, that ran in the 1987/88 season, and from 1990/91 until 1992/93. It was a series of five non-ranking tournaments spread over Europe, where top professional players performed against regional wildcard players. The series consisted of four tournaments plus a ''Grand Final'' for which the winner earned €50,000. The winner of each tournament received five points, the runner-up three and losing semi-finalists one each. These points determined the seeding positions for the Grand Final, with the top four getting a bye to quarter-finals and fifth and sixth getting a bye to the second round.
