Rune Larsson (footballer)
Rune Larsson (17 July 1927 – 15 August 2014) was a Swedish football, ice hockey and bandy player, best known for representing Hammarby IF and AIK in all sports. Although most known for his footballing career, Larsson briefly represented Sweden internationally in ice hockey. He later coached his former football club Hammarby in the domestic top division Allsvenskan. Athletic career Football Raised in Stockholm, Larsson started to play football as a youngster with local clubs Verdandi IF and Sundbybergs IK. In 1948, at age 20, he joined AIK in Allsvenskan, Sweden's first tier. Larsson soon broke into the side as a regular and won the 1950 Svenska Cupen with the club, beating Helsingborgs IF 3–2 in the final. He played four seasons with the club, making 47 league appearances and scoring 14 goals, before leaving after falling out with the board at AIK. Larsson transferred to rivals Hammarby IF in 1953. Sweden Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Sweden men's national ice hockey team ( sv, Sveriges herrlandslag i ishockey) is governed by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. It is one of the most successful national ice hockey teams in the world and a member of the so-called " Big Six", the unofficial group of the six strongest men's ice hockey nations, along with Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and the United States. The team's nickname ''Tre Kronor'', meaning "Three Crowns", refers to the emblem on the team jersey, which is found in the lesser national coat of arms of the Kingdom of Sweden. Svenska Cupen
Svenska Cupen (, ''The Swedish Cup'') is a knockout cup competition in Swedish football and the main Swedish football cup. Svenska Cupen usually refers to the men's tournament, although a women's tournament is also held. Each year 96 teams compete, comprising the 16 teams from Allsvenskan and the 16 teams of Superettan together with 64 teams from lower tiers of the league system. The winners qualify for the qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League. The winner is awarded Gustaf VI Adolf Cup. Compared to cups in many other countries, Svenska Cupen attracts considerably less public interest and even the cup final is rarely sold out. Consequently, the Swedish Football Association has experimented with the format in order to raise the profile of the cup. Folke Adamsson
Folke Adamsson (1911–1977) was a Swedish football player and manager. He represented Hammarby IF during his whole playing career and later went on to coach the club for 18 years, as the longest-serving manager in its history. Club career He grew up in Fagersta and started to play youth football with local club Fagersta AIK. In 1931, at age 19, Adamsson moved to Hammarby IF in Stockholm. Between 1931 and 1943, Adamsson made 187 league appearances for Hammarby, mostly in the Swedish second tier. In 1940, Hammarby played one season in Allsvenskan, the domestic top league, but was relegated immediately. In 1943, Adamsson retired from playing due to a persistent knee injury. Managerial career After his playing career, Adamsson was the coach of Huvudsta IS and Hagalunds IS. Allsvenskan And Elitserien (bandy)
The combination Allsvenskan ( sv, Allsvenskan i bandy) and Elitserien ( sv, Elitserien i bandy) was earlier the highest level of bandy in Sweden contested annually between Swedish bandy clubs. The Allsvenskan was split into two regional divisions: the Allsvenskan Norra (north) and the Allsvenskan Södra (south), in which the teams played during the autumn. After the Christmas holiday the Allsvenskan was split into Elitserien (top four teams in each group) and Superallsvenskan (last four teams in each group). The season ended in March with a final on Studenternas IP like the Super Bowl. Starting with the 2007–08 season, the league structure was remade. Hockeyettan is the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden. As of the 2015–16 season, the league consists of 46 teams divided geographically into four groups. Hockeyettan operates a system of promotion and relegation with HockeyAllsvenskan and Division 2. From 1944 to 1975, Division I was the highest league in the Swedish ice hockey system, but with the creation of Elitserien (now the SHL) in 1975, it became the second tier. Hammarby Hockey (1921–2008)
Hammarby IF Ishockeyförening (or Hammarby Hockey) was a Stockholm-based professional ice hockey team that for most of its history played in Hovet. Hammarby IF started playing hockey in 1921, playing their first matches using a group of curious bandy players. Hammarby were giants in the early history of Swedish hockey, playing in Sweden's top league from the birth of Swedish organized hockey in 1922 until 1957. During that period, they were crowned Swedish champions eight times (1932, 1933, 1936, 1937, 1942, 1943, 1945, and 1951) in 13 attempts. Ettan Fotboll, or simply Ettan ( en, the one), which also is its common name in everyday speech, is the third level in the Swedish football league system and consists of 32 Swedish football teams. It was formerly simply known as ''Division 1''. Division 1 was the second tier from 1987 to 1999, but was replaced by Superettan in 2000. Helsingborgs IF
Helsingborgs IF (full name Helsingborgs Idrottsförening), commonly referred to as HIF (), is a Swedish professional football club located in Helsingborg. They play in the Swedish first tier, Allsvenskan, following promotion in the 2021 Superettan season via play-offs. Formed in 1907, the club has won five national championship titles and five national cup titles. Helsingborgs IF have also won Allsvenskan on two occasions when the title of Swedish champions was not decided by the outcome of that league. Helsingborg was a founder member of Allsvenskan, and between 1924 and 1968 they spent all but two seasons in the top division, and won the league five times.
