I'm So Afraid
"I'm So Afraid" is a song written by Lindsey Buckingham for the British-American band Fleetwood Mac for their tenth album, ''Fleetwood Mac''. The song was intended for a second Buckingham Nicks album, but the album never came to fruition. It was also issued as the B-side to " Over My Head", which became the band's first top 20 hit in the United States. Buckingham has performed "I'm So Afraid" on numerous tours, both with Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. Background Like all other Buckingham and Nicks compositions on Fleetwood Mac's 1975 eponymous album, "I'm So Afraid" was written before Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham wrote the song around the time he was suffering from a bout of mononucleosis. Mick Fleetwood said in his 2014 autobiography that Buckingham had labored over the song for four years and had "gotten the harmony of the guitar parts so in tune they were a virtual orchestra unto themselves." Buckingham incorporated musical themes from church music on "I'm ...

You Make Loving Fun
"You Make Loving Fun" is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, written and sung by Christine McVie. It was released as the fourth and final single from the band's 1977 album '' Rumours''. "You Make Loving Fun" peaked at number nine on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and became the album's fourth top-ten hit. Background "You Make Loving Fun" was inspired by Christine McVie's affair with the band's lighting director, Curry Grant. "To avoid flare-ups", she told her then-husband and fellow band member, John McVie, that the song was about her dog. The song uses descending seconds in its chord progression. In an interview with the ''New York Post'', McVie remarked that she wanted it to be the third US single from the album, but " Don't Stop" was chosen instead. Early tracking of the song was done, according to Christine McVie, in the absence of Lindsey Buckingham, which gave her the freedom to "build the song on erown". For the February 8 session, Fleetwood was on drum ...

Over My Head (Fleetwood Mac Song)
"Over My Head" is a song recorded by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac for their self-titled 1975 album. The song was written by keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie. "Over My Head" was the band's first single to reach the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 since " Oh Well", ending a six-year dry spell on the American charts. Background Christine McVie composed the song using a portable Hohner electric piano in a small apartment in Malibu, California, where she and then-husband John McVie (Fleetwood Mac's bassist) resided after completing a concert tour to promote '' Heroes Are Hard to Find'', which was the album that preceded the band's 1975 self-titled release. Christine McVie said that the lyrics were inspired by her relationship with bandmate Lindsey Buckingham. "I think that was based on a sort of fantasy about Lindsey, really. I think that was a sort of an ode to the gorgeous Lindsey at the time." The original rhythm track consisted of just vocals, drums and a Dobro. Other ...

Gold Dust Woman

The song was written and sung by Stevie Nicks and released as a B-side to the " Don't Stop" single (in the UK) and the " You Make Loving Fun" single (in the US). The song's title, "Gold Dust Woman", comes from Gold Dust Lane, a street in Wickenburg, Arizona where Nicks spent time as a child. The 2004 two-disc special edition release of '' Rumours'' includes two demos of "Gold Dust Woman". One demo features vocal melody and lyrics in the coda which would later be developed into the stand-alone single "If You Ever Did Believe" in 1997, which Nicks recorded with Sheryl Crow as part of the early sessions for her 2001 '' Trouble in Shangri-La'' album. Oh Daddy (Fleetwood Mac Song)
"Oh Daddy" is a song written by Christine McVie that was first performed by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac as the tenth song off their 1977 album '' Rumours''. The song was played throughout the band's '' Rumours'' and ''Tusk'' world tours, and resurfaced for the 1997 ''The Dance'' tour before disappearing once again. Background Christine McVie stated in a series of 1977 interviews that she wrote the song about Mick Fleetwood's separation from his erstwhile wife, Jenny Boyd. At the time, Fleetwood was the only father in the band, with two daughters. However, both Lindsey Buckingham's former girlfriend Carol Ann Harris and Stevie Nicks' biographer Zoe Howe have written that the song was originally written for the band's lighting director, who McVie had been dating at the time. Both Harris and Howe contend McVie only later claimed that the song was written for Fleetwood. Producer Ken Caillat described "Oh Daddy" as "a beautiful, airy song." He noted that getting the ...

The song built to a climax in which Nicks's vocals were so impassioned that, as drummer and band co-founder Mick Fleetwood recalled, " ...
