Rummu Jüri
Rummu Jüri (born Jüri Rummo; in Kehtna Parish – unknown) was an Estonian itinerant, thief and robber. He has become the archetypical Estonian folk hero, an outlaw who stole from the rich to give to the poor. Although most noted for his material egalitarianism, in the stories he also pursues other types of equality and justice. Early life and criminal career Jüri was born in Kehtna Parish as the first child of farm tenant Jaan Rummo and his wife Anne. As a teenager, Jüri was a boarder in Kehtna manor (German: ''Kechtel''), where he studied a little German. He once stole a piece of meat (according to other records, a bottle of wine) from the manor for his sick father, for which the gentleman sentenced him to corporal punishment. Some time later, the Harju County Court sentenced him to 6 months in prison for stealing goods from a Russian itinerant merchant. When he got rid of it, he started robbing the manors. Kehtna Parish ( et, Kehtna vald) is a rural municipality in central Estonia. It is a part of Rapla County. The municipality has a population of 5,182 (as of 1 January 2004) and covers an area of 507.3 km². The population density is 10.2 inhabitants per km². The earliest mentioning of Estonian singing dates back to Saxo Grammaticus' ''Gesta Danorum'' (c. 1179). Saxo spoke of Estonian warriors who sang at night while waiting for a battle. Henry of Livonia at the beginning of the 13th century described Estonian sacrificial customs, gods and spirits. In 1578 Balthasar Russow described the celebration of midsummer (''jaanipäev''), the St. John's Day by Estonians. In 1644 Johann Gutslaff spoke of the veneration of holy springs and J.W. Andres Ehin
Andres Ehin (14 March 1940 – 10 December 2011) was an Estonian writer and translator. In 1964 he graduated from University of Tartu, studying Estonian philology (especially Finno-Ugric studies). From 1972 to 1974 he was the senior scientific editor of Estonian Soviet Encyclopaedia. From 1972 he was a member of Estonian Writers' Union. From 1968 to 1989 he was a member of Communist Party. In 1990 he joined Estonian Social Democratic Party. He married Ly Seppel (Ehin). Their daughter is poet Kristiina Ehin Kristiina Ehin (born 18 July 1977) is an Estonia, Estonian poet, translator, singer and songwriter. Ehin studied at University of Tartu with a degree in philology and specializes in folklore. In 2004, she acquired master's degree in the Estonia ....
