Rula Hassanein
Rula Ibrahim Hassanein (; born 20 October 1994) is a Palestinian writer, activist, and journalist from Ramallah, who works with Al Jazeera. She has many writings and articles in many newspapers and news websites. She was arrested with 80 journalists from the West Bank and Jerusalem during the war on Gaza, in March 19 2024, according to a joint statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and The Palestinian Prisoners Society. An Israeli court denied her request for release, despite the fact that her nine-month-old Infant baby relies solely on her for breastfeeding. Education Rula is a graduate of the Birzeit University with a major in Journalism and Media, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Media and Political Science, and a Master degree in Contemporary Arab Studies from Birzeit University. Mass Detentions In The Gaza War
Since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023, Israel has carried out mass arrests and detentions of Palestinians. Thousands have been arrested in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories and in Israel, based on alleged militant activity, offensive social media postings, or arbitrarily. Palestinian Prisoners' Document
The Prisoners' Document, officially the National Conciliation Document of the Prisoners was written in May 2006 by Palestinian prisoners, who were being held in an Israeli jail. The five prisoners who took part in writing the Document were respectively affiliated with Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP). The Document called for Palestinians to have an "independent state, with al-Quds al-Shareef (east Jerusalem) as its capital, on all territories occupied in 1967". Bushra Al-Tawil
Bushra al-Tawil or Bushra al-Taweel () is a Palestinian journalist, former Palestinian prisoner and prisoners' rights activist from Ramallah who has frequently been held under administrative detention without charge by Israel. She is the spokesperson for the Aneen Al-Qaid Media Network, a local news agency specialized in covering news about the Palestinian detainees, and political prisoners. Education and career Al-Tawil began studying journalism after she was first detained and released again by the Israeli authorities in 2011. She elected to study journalism and photography at the Modern University College in Ramallah, and graduated in 2013. She went on to found the “Aneen ALQaid” news network, which looks at Palestinian captives, the experiences of their families, and the rights of female captives in Israeli prisons.
