''Ruined'' is a 2005 EP by San Francisco Bay Area hardcore punk band Ceremony. Released as 7" vinyl by Malfunction Records, ''Ruined'' is Ceremony's debut studio release. The seven songs in the EP are also included as bonus tracks in the CD version of 2006's ''Violence Violence Violence Violence is the debut full-length album from American hardcore punk band Ceremony. Ceremony (punk Band)
Ceremony is an American punk rock band from Rohnert Park, California. The band's current line-up features Ross Farrar (vocals), Anthony Anzaldo (guitar), Jasmine Watson (bass), Andy Nelson (guitar), and Jake Casarotti (drums). Ryan Mattos (guitar) left before the group's Matador Records signing in 2011, being replaced by Nelson, while Watson joined in 2022 as a replacement for founding bassist Justin Davis. The band have released six studio albums to date, and have changed their sound considerably across their discography – ranging from elements of powerviolence, grindcore, hardcore punk, punk rock, garage rock, post-punk, indie rock and new wave. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Powerviolence
Powerviolence (sometimes written as power violence) is an extremely dissonant and fast subgenre of hardcore punk which is closely related to thrashcore and grindcore. In contrast with grindcore, which is a "crossover" idiom containing musical aspects of heavy metal, powerviolence is just an augmentation of the most challenging qualities of hardcore punk. Like its predecessors, it is usually socio-politically charged and iconoclastic. History Siege are considered the pioneers of powerviolence. Additionally, Infest have received credit for having an early impact on the genre. The microgenre solidified into its commonly recognized form in the early 1990s. Violence Violence
Violence Violence is the debut full-length album from American hardcore punk band Ceremony. The vinyl release of the album contains the original 13 song track list, while the CD version includes the band's previous effort, 2005's ''Ruined'' EP. While officially a full-length album, ''Violence Violence'' offers 13 songs in just over 13 minutes, with many tracks consisting of short, chaotic bursts of energy that last mere seconds. The Deathwish Inc. released vinyl edition plays the album in its entirety twice, once on each side of the LP. Guitarist Anthony Anzaldo has said that he was influenced by the music of punk bands Pg. 99 and Tragedy while writing music for the album. Reception As Ceremony's first full-length release, ''Violence Violence'' was met with wide acclaim from hardcore punk enthusiasts.
