Rugby League Nines
Rugby league nines (or simply nines) is a version of rugby league football played with nine players on each side. The game is substantially the same as full rugby league, with some differences in rules and shorter games. Nines is usually played in festivals, as its shorter game play allows for a tournament to be completed in a day or over a single weekend. In July 2021, International Rugby League (IRL) chair Troy Grant stated that the organisation was considering a bid for rugby league nines to be played at the 2032 Summer Olympics in Brisbane. Rugby sevens, a similarly-condensed version of rugby union, has been a core Olympic event since 2016. The International Rugby League (IRL) is the global governing body for the sport of rugby league football. The Rugby League World Cup 9s was an international tournament played in the rugby league nines tournament. The inaugural World Cup 9s took place on 18 and 19 October 2019 at the Bankwest Stadium in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The women's competition was won by New Zealand, and the men's competition by the hosts . The tournament, like the XIII's tournament, was intended to be held every four years. However the 2023 tournament, which was due to be held in Australia, was cancelled due to the New South Wales Government withdrawing support after the COVID-19 pandemic. Rugby league sevens (or simply sevens) is a seven-a-side derivative of rugby league football, which is usually a thirteen-a-side sport. The game is substantially the same as full rugby league, with some rule changes and shorter games. Sevens is usually played in festivals, as its shorter game play allows for a tournament to be completed in a day or over a single weekend. As well as being played by club sides, rugby league sevens is particularly popular with social teams, formed in the workplace or from the patrons of a public house for example, as it is often difficult in these places to form a full squad of 13 players and four substitutes of regular players. RFL Women's Nines
The RFL Women's Nines is a rugby league nines competition played as a pre season tournament ahead of the RFL Women's Super League. It is the first Women's Rugby League title in Europe to award prize money. 2022 On 30 March, the RFL announced that the inaugural RFL Women's Nines tournament would take place on 1 May. The competition saw teams from across RFL Women's Super League and RFL Women's Super League South, as well as selected invitational teams compete for six spaces in the final competition. The qualifiers saw 20 teams play in five groups of four with each group leader advancing to the final stage along with one wildcard team. 2018 Commonwealth Games

The 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championship was a rugby league nines tournament organised by the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) and played in the Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia in February 2018. Carnegie Floodlit Nines is a rugby league nines event held at Headingley Stadium in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The same stadium hosted the Headingley Sevens, rugby league sevens tournament from 1965-78. The old BBC2 Floodlit Trophy is awarded to the winner of the competition. 2008 Event The first Carnegie Nines event was held on Wednesday August 27, 2008 in front of a crowd of 2,232 spectators. The tournament featured a mixture of professional sides from England along with representative sides from the British Army, Cumbria, Fiji Rugby UK and Leeds Metropolitan University.
