Rufino Jiao Santos
Rufino Jiao Santos (August 26, 1908 – September 3, 1973) was the 29th Archbishop of Manila from February 10, 1953, until his death on September 3, 1973, and was the first Filipino elevated to the rank of cardinal. Biography Born in Barangay Sto. Niño, Guagua, Pampanga, Santos was the fourth of seven children of Gaudencio Santos, an overseer of farmland near Mount Arayat, and Rosalia Jiao y Romero. Rufino's three elder brothers were Manuel, Emiliano, and Quirino; his three sisters were Clara, Jovita, and Exequiela. Santos, nicknamed "Pinong", grew up in a house located 30 meters from what is now the Immaculate Conception Parish. He was active in church activities as an acolyte, and was later a choir member of the Manila Cathedral School. Two factors influenced his priestly vocation: his stint as an altar server, and the encouragement of Father Jose Tahon, Manila Cathedral's parish priest. Rufino Segovia del Burgo (born 1 March 1985), known simply as Rufino, is a Spanish footballer who plays for Marbella FC as a forward. Club career Born in Madrid, Rufino made his professional debut with hometown's Rayo Vallecano, first appearing with the first team in the 2004–05 season as they competed in the Segunda División B. He then moved to neighbours Atlético Madrid, where he would spend the vast majority of his spell with the reserves. Rufino's La Liga output would consist of two matches: on 22 April 2006, he replaced fellow youth graduate Manu del Moral for the final 20 minutes of a 1–0 win at Deportivo Alavés. Almost one year later, he played roughly the same amount of time in a 0–0 home draw against Real Betis. Rufino del Carmen Arellanes Tamayo (August 25, 1899 – June 24, 1991) was a Mexican painter of Zapotec heritage, born in Oaxaca de Juárez, Mexico.Sullivan, 170-171Ades, 357 Tamayo was active in the mid-20th century in Mexico and New York, painting figurative abstraction with surrealist influences. Early life Tamayo was born in Oaxaca, Mexico in 1899 to parents Manuel Arellanes and Florentina Tamayo. His mother was a seamstress and his father was a shoemaker. His mother died of tuberculosis in 1911. His Zapotec heritage is often cited as an early influence. After his mother's death, he moved to Mexico City to live with his aunt, where he spent a lot of time working alongside her in the city's fruit markets. While there, he devoted himself to helping his family with their small business. However, in 1917 Tamayo's aunt enrolled him at Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas at San Carlos to study art.
