Rudy Ortiz
Rudy Israel Ortiz Ruiz (6 August 1963 – 20 August 2014) was a Guatemalan senior military officer who served as the Chief of the General Staff from 13 July 2013 until his death on 20 August 2014. Ortiz enlisted in the Armed Forces in 1983 at the age of 20. In late August 2014, Ortiz, along with four other senior military officers took off in a helicopter that changed its flight path during bad weather. The helicopter crashed in Huehuetenango Huehuetenango () is a city and municipality in the highlands of western Guatemala. It is also the capital of the department of Huehuetenango.
