Rubén Paz
Ruben Wálter Paz Márquez (born 8 August 1959) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Paz played at two FIFA World Cups for Uruguay and was also South American Footballer of the Year in 1988. He retired in 2006 at the age of 47. He is currently Peñarol's assistant coach. Club career Ruben Paz began his career at the age of 17 when he joined the Club Atlético Peñarol Montevideo in 1977. He played in Peñarol until February 1982, where he obtained important achievements, winning three Uruguayan league championships (1978, 1979 and 1981) and became top scorer of the Uruguayan league by 1981. In 1982, he emigrated to the Brazilian League, specifically the Rio Grande do Sul team Internacional, where he won three consecutive Gaúcho championships (1982, 1983, 1984) and was considered the best player of the Brazilian league by 1985–86. 1979 Copa América
The 1979 edition of the Copa América association football tournament was played between 18 July and 12 December. It was not held in a particular country, all matches were played on a home and away basis. Defending champions Peru were given a bye into the semi-finals. Montevideo
Montevideo (, ; ) is the capital city, capital and List of cities in Uruguay, largest city of Uruguay. Carlos Aguilera (Uruguayan Footballer)
Carlos Alberto Aguilera Nova (born 21 September 1964) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as a forward. He represented Uruguay at an international level, earning a total of 64 caps. Club career Aguilera began his career playing for River Plate Montevideo, from 1980 to 1982. From 1983 to 1985 he played in Club Nacional de Football, then passed to Independiente Medellín (1985), returned to Nacional (1986), Racing Club of Argentina (1986), again in Nacional (1987), and Tecos of Mexico (1987–88). In 1988, he went to Europe to play for Italian clubs Genoa C.F.C. (1989–92), and then A.C. Torino (1992–94). He returned to C.A. José Perdomo
José Batlle Perdomo Teixeira (born 5 January 1965) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Born in Salto, he started his career with Club Atlético Peñarol in 1983, being later noted in 1989 by Genoa head coach Franco Scoglio during a South-American scouting visit, being signed by the ''rossoblu'' together with fellow Uruguayans Carlos "Pato" Aguilera and Rubén Paz. Perdomo, who was expected to be a mainstay within the Genoa midfield line, played 25 unimpressive matches, being remembered only for his lack of pace and acceleration, as well as his excessive playing aggressivity. His poor performances later led Vujadin Boškov, head coach of crosstown rivals Sampdoria, to one of his best famous quotes, declared just before the 1989–90 city derby: "If I unleash my dog, it plays better than Perdomo."
