Rubén Ayala
Rubén Hugo Ayala Sanabria (born 8 January 1950 in Santa Fe, Argentina) is a former Argentine football player and manager, who played as a forward. Playing career Born in Humboldt, Las Colonias Department, Santa Fe Province, Ayala played club football for Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina where he was part of the team that famously went unbeaten for the whole of the 1972 Nacional championship. In 1973, he left for Atlético de Madrid in Spain where he won several titles. In 1979, he moved to Mexico to play for Club Jalisco and Atlante F.C. During his playing career he earned 25 caps and scored 11 goals for the Argentina national football team, and played in the 1974 FIFA World Cup (scoring against Haiti). He was nicknamed ''Ratón'' (Mouse) due to his short height. Las Colonias Department
The Las Colonias Department (in Spanish, ''Departamento Las Colonias'') is an administrative subdivision (''departamento'') of the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. It is located in the center of the province. Starting from the east and going clockwise, it limits with the departments of La Capital, San Jerónimo, San Martín, Castellanos, San Cristóbal, and San Justo. Las Colonias is thus one of only three provincial departments that do not share a border with another province. 1972 Argentine Primera División
The 1972 Argentine Primera División, Primera División season was the 81st season of top-flight football in Argentina. Club Atlético Banfield, Banfield was penalised with a 4-month suspension and the subsequent points deduction after a proved bribe. The case referred back to the 1971 Argentine Primera División, 1971 Metropolitano when Banfield was about to be relegated along with Club Atlético Banfield, Los Andes. A Banfield executive offered Ferro Carril Oeste players (their rivals in the last fixture of the tournament) a high amount of money to fix the match.
