Royston Gabe-Jones
Royston Gabe-Jones (born Arthur Royston Gabe-Jones; 25 November 1906 — 26 February 1965) was a Welsh cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who played for Glamorgan. He was born in Clydach Vale, educated at Blundell's School and died in Cardiff. When Gabe-Jones appeared in his only first-class cricket match in 1922, he became the youngest person to play county cricket in the 20th century, at the age of just 15 years and 9 months. The record was broken in June 2013, when Matthew Fisher made his debut against Leicestershire. He played a single match for the team, against Leicestershire, and in the only innings in which he batted, finished on 6 not out. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Clydach Vale
Clydach Vale ( cy, Cwmclydach and adjoining ''Blaenclydach'') is a village in the community of Cwm Clydach, northwest of Tonypandy in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, within the Rhondda Valley, Wales. It is named for its situation on the Nant Clydach, a tributary of the River Rhondda. Blundell's School is a co-educational day and boarding independent school in the English public school tradition, located in Tiverton, Devon. Matthew Fisher (English Cricketer)
Matthew David Fisher (born 9 November 1997) is an English cricketer, contracted to play for Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He made his international debut for the England cricket team in March 2022. Career Domestic career Fisher made his debut on 9 June 2013 in the 2013 Yorkshire Bank 40 against Leicestershire, and at the age of 15 years and 212 days, became the youngest cricketer to play in a competitive county game. The previous record was set in 1922 by the Welsh cricketer Royston Gabe-Jones. In May 2015 on his debut in the T20 Blast, he took five wickets for Yorkshire against Derbyshire.
