The Royal Yacht Club Hollandia () often abbreviated to the term ''KZ&RV Hollandia'' is a Dutch yacht club and rowing club located in Medemblik in the Netherlands. History The yacht club was founded on the 21 June 1882 in Alphen aan den Rijn and later moved to Medemblik in 1964. The predicate 'Royal' was bestowed in 1957. Both the Rowing and Sailing sides of the club have hosted international competition. The sailing side notably hosting World Championship including the Finn, Soling, ILCA, Flying Dutchman, Youth Worlds and many more. The club benefits form having access to the Regatta Centre Medemblik a purpose build sailing facililty used for the olympic squad and hosting international events. Medemblik
Medemblik () is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West Friesland (region), West-Frisia. It lies immediately south of the polder and former municipality of Wieringermeer. History Medemblik was a prosperous trading town, when in 1282, Floris V, Count of Holland, successfully invaded West Friesland (historical region), West Friesland. He built several fortresses to control the region, one of which was Kasteel Radboud in Medemblik, and awarded Medemblik City rights in the Netherlands, city rights in 1289. A rowing club is a club for people interested in the sport of rowing. Alphen aan den Rijn (; or "Alphen on the Rhine") is a city and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The city is situated on the banks of the river Oude Rijn (Utrecht and South Holland), Oude Rijn (Old Rhine), where the river Gouwe (river), Gouwe branches off. The Finn Gold Cup decides the Finn Class World Champion and is an annual international sailing regatta for Finn (dinghy) they are organized by the host club on behalf of the International Class Association and recognized by World Sailing, the sports IOC recognized governing body. The Flying Dutchman World Championship, also known as FD Worlds, are international sailing regattas in the Flying Dutchman class organized by the International Flying Dutchman Class Organization since 1956 and recognised by World Sailing. The Szabolcs Majthényi & András Domokos team has been the most successful in the history of the championships, with fourteen titles, making Hungary the most successful among the nations.
