Royal Collection Project
The Royal Collection Project is a body of seventy five contemporary Canadian watercolours housed within The Royal Collection of His Majesty King Charles III. They comprise the single largest Canadian component within The Royal Collection, and were compiled in two phases by the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC/SCPA) to mark the societyʼs sixtieth and seventy-fifth anniversaries which were celebrated in 1985 and 2000, respectively. Along with most of the Royal Collectionʼs works on paper they reside in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle. History The initial sixty piece collection was formed in 1985 as part of the Diamond Anniversary celebrations of the CSPWC. Peter Haworth
Peter Haworth (1889 – 7 May 1986) was a British-born Canadian painter. He was known for his stained glass work. Early years Peter Haworth was born in 1889 in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, England. During World War I (1914–1918) he served in the Royal Flying Corps and won the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war he studied at the Royal College of Art in London under William Rothenstein and Robert Anning Bell. He specialized in stained glass at an early stage in his career. Haworth married Zema Barbara Cogill (1900–1988), a painter from South Africa who also studied at the Royal College of Art under Rothenstein. She used the name Bobs Cogill Haworth. Pre-war Canada In 1923 the Haworths immigrated to Canada, where Peter was appointed Director of Art at the Central Technical School in Toronto. Anne Macintosh Duff
Ann MacIntosh Duff (14 July 1925 – 3 December 2022) was a Canadian artist known for her watercolour paintings. Biography MacIntosh Duff was born in Toronto on 14 July 1925, the daughter of John MacIntosh and Constance Hamilton Duff. The painter and graphic artist Walter R. Duff was her father`s cousin. She worked at one of two places - at her home in Toronto or at her Georgian Bay cottage at Pointe au Baril, Ontario. She painted from memory, landscapes of the mind, as she called them. In 1951, MacIntosh Duff became a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC) and remained an active member for thirty years. In 1959, she began working with Douglas Duncan at the Picture Loan Society until Duncan's death in 1968. Hilary Mary Weston ( Frayne; born January 12, 1942) is an Irish–Canadian businesswoman and writer who served as the 26th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1997 to 2002.
