The Royal Collection Management Committee has control of the administration of the Royal Collection of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom, and is a part of the Royal Collection Department of the Royal Household. Royal Collection
The Royal Collection of the British royal family is the largest private art collection in the world. Spread among 13 occupied and historic royal residences in the United Kingdom, the collection is owned by King Charles III and overseen by the Royal Collection Trust. The British monarch owns some of the collection in right of the Crown and some as a private individual. It is made up of over one million objects, including 7,000 paintings, over 150,000 works on paper, this including 30,000 watercolours and drawings, and about 450,000 photographs, as well as around 700,000 works of art, including tapestries, furniture, ceramics, textiles, carriages, weapons, armour, jewellery, clocks, musical instruments, tableware, plants, manuscripts, books, and sculptures. Hugh Roberts (art Historian)
Sir Hugh Ashley Roberts (born 20 April 1948), is a British art historian and curator. He was the Director of the Royal Collection, the art collection of the British Royal Family, and Surveyor of the Queen's Works of Art, whose office is responsible for the care and maintenance of the royal collection of works of art owned by the Sovereign of the United Kingdom in an official capacity. The Royal Victorian Order (french: Ordre royal de Victoria) is a dynastic order of knighthood established in 1896 by Queen Victoria. Jonathan Marsden (art Historian)
Sir Jonathan Mark Marsden, (born 1960) is an art historian, curator and courtier. Marsden was a curator with the National Trust before joining the Royal Collection, one of the five departments in the Royal Household, in 1996. He was Deputy Surveyor of The Queen's Works of Art, responsible for curating decorative arts, until he succeeded Sir Hugh Roberts to become Surveyor of the Queen's Works of Art and Director of the Royal Collection on 1 May 2010. Priscilla Jane Stephanie, Lady Roberts, ( Low; 4 September 1949 – 29 June 2021), known as simply Jane Roberts, was the Curator of the Print Room at Windsor Castle from 1975 and the Royal Librarian from 2002 until her retirement in July 2013.
