Roy Ingram
Reginald William Thomas "Roy" Ingram (19 November 1900 – 1972) was a South African Boxing, boxer who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics and in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He was born in Belfast, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland In 1920, he was eliminated in the second round of the Boxing at the 1920 Summer Olympics – Men's welterweight, welterweight class after losing his fight to Trygve Stokstad. Four years later he was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Boxing at the 1924 Summer Olympics – Men's welterweight, welterweight class after losing his fight to the eventual gold medalist Jean Delarge. Boxing (also known as "Western boxing" or "pugilism") is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves and other protective equipment such as hand wraps and mouthguards, throw punches at each other for a predetermined amount of time in a boxing ring. Welterweight is a weight class in combat sports. Originally the term "welterweight" was used only in boxing, but other combat sports like Muay Thai, taekwondo, and mixed martial arts also use it for their own weight division system to classify the opponents. In most sports that use it, welterweight is heavier than lightweight but lighter than middleweight. Etymology The first known instance of the term is from 1831, meaning "heavyweight horseman," later "boxer or wrestler of a certain weight" by 1896.
