Roy Hurley
Roy Leonard Hurley (August 12, 1922 – October 14, 1993) was an American professional basketball player. He spent two seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL) and one season in the Basketball Association of America (BAA). He played for the Indianapolis Kautskys (NBL, 1945–46), the Toronto Huskies (BAA, 1946–47), the Tri-Cities Blackhawks (NBL, 1947–48), and the Syracuse Nationals The Philadelphia 76ers are an American basketball team currently playing in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads directly to a score by field goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the basket. An assist is also credited when a basket is awarded due to defensive goaltending. There is some judgment involved in deciding whether a passer should be credited with an assist.
