Roy Brown (Montana Politician)
Roy Brown (born February 16, 1951) is a former Montana state senator from Billings, Montana Senate District 25. He served four terms in the Montana House of Representatives and was elected to the state senate in 2007. He was the Republican nominee for the governor seat in Montana with Steve Daines in 2008. In 2010, Representative Kendall Van Dyk defeated Brown in the general election. Early life Brown was born in Casper, Wyoming, in 1951, but his family relocated to Montana in 1955. He attended grade school and high school in Billings. After working in the oil fields as a roughneck, he enrolled at Montana Tech University in Butte, Montana, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. From 1974 to 1982 Brown worked for Marathon Oil Company in energy development, a job that took him around the world. In 1983 he returned to Billings to start an oil and gas business. Kendall Van Dyk
Kendall J. Van Dyk (born March 21, 1980) is a Democratic Party member of the Montana Senate, representing District 25 in north-central Billings, Montana since 2011. Personal life and education Van Dyk earned a B.A. in political science from Montana State University. Van Dyk has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Montana Wildlife Federation. He is a member of the Montana Bowhunters Association, the Montana Conservation Voters, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the National Rifle Association of America. Bob Brown (born December 11, 1947) is an American politician who was the Secretary of State for Montana and the Republican nominee for Governor of Montana in 2004. As a young man, Brown was elected to Montana Legislature. Brown spent four years in the State House (1970–1974) and 23 in the Senate (1975–1997), serving as president from 1995-96. His political mentors include Jean Turnage, who spent 20 years in the Senate and subsequently 15 as chief justice of the Supreme Court before retiring in 1991. Brown became Senate education chairman in 1977 and served in that capacity through 1983. He served as chairman of the taxation committee in 1987. Brian David Schweitzer (born September 4, 1955) is an American farmer and politician who served as the 23rd Governor of Montana from 2005 to 2013. Schweitzer served for a time as chair of the Western Governors Association as well as the Democratic Governors Association. He also served as President of the Council of State Governments.
