Roy Bedichek
Roy Bedichek (June 27, 1878 – May 21, 1959) was a Texan writer, naturalist, and educator. Biography Early life and education Roy Bedichek was born on June 27, 1878 in Cass County, Illinois to parents James Madison Bedichek and Lucretia Ellen Craven. The family relocated to Falls County, Texas in 1884. Bedichek attended country schools and the Bedichek Academy, founded by his father in Eddy, Texas. He enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin in February 1898. He received his Bachelor of Science in 1903. Later in 1925, after returning as an employee of the University system, he earned his Master of Arts. Employment His first job after college was as a reporter for the ''Fort Worth Record''. Soon after, he was a high school teacher, first in Houston, Texas and then in San Angelo, Texas. Next, he worked as the secretary of the Chamber of Commerce in Deming, New Mexico. Melinda Jane Bordelon (March 6, 1949 – November 18, 1995) was an American Painting, painter and illustrator whose professional work adorns magazine covers, articles, and advertisements—as well as album covers, book covers, and video game packaging—produced from the early 1970s through the 1990s. Her principal art media were acrylic paint and ink. Early life and education Melinda Jane Bordelon was the daughter of Dr. Howard M. Bordelon (a urologist) and Mary Jane Peters Bordelon, of Amarillo, Texas. Interested in art from an early age, she was a third-prize winner in a newspaper coloring contest when she was 12 years old. The Karankawa were an Indigenous people concentrated in southern Texas along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, largely in the lower Colorado River and Brazos River valleys."Karankawa." Barton Springs Pool is a recreational outdoor swimming pool that is filled entirely with water from nearby natural springs. It is located on the grounds of Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The pool exists within the channel of Barton Creek and utilizes water from Main Barton Spring, the fourth largest spring in Texas. The pool is a popular venue for year-round swimming, as its temperature hovers between about and year round. History Long before Barton Springs Pool was built, the springs were considered sacred and were used for purification rituals by the Tonkawa Native American tribe who inhabited the area. Austin Independent School District (AISD) is a school district based in the city of Austin, Texas, United States.
