Alec Rowley
Alec Rowley (13 March 1892 – 12 January 1958) was an English composer, organist, pianist, lecturer and writer on music. He composed a large number of works, mainly on a small scale and often of an educational nature though with some larger-scale orchestral and choral works. He was a dedicated teacher, broadcaster and writer; after his death the Alec Rowley Memorial Prize was established at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Trinity College of Music. Life Rowley was born in Ealing, West London on 13 March 1892. He entered the Royal Academy of Music in 1908, where he studied under Frederick Corder, H.W. Richards (organ) and Edward Morton (piano). He won several prizes, including the Mortimer and Prescott prizes for composition. Danielle Rowley (born 25 February 1990) is a Scottish Labour politician who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Midlothian from 2017 to 2019. Early life and education Danielle Rowley was born on 25 February 1990 and grew up on a council estate in Dalkeith. Her father is Scottish Labour politician Alex Rowley and her late mother was a trade unionist. Both her grandfathers were Labour Party activists and miners. She was educated at Dalkeith High School and graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a journalism degree in 2014. Rowley supported Scotland staying part of the union during the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, and worked as former Prime Minister Gordon Brown's constituency media manager during the campaign. Harrison Rowley
Harrison Cotton Banks Rowley (15 June 1924 — 16 December 1956) was a New Zealand rugby union international. Born in Cromwell, Rowley was educated at Southland Boys' High School. Rowley, a loose forward, made his solitary Test appearance for the All Blacks in a win over the Wallabies at Eden Park in 1949. He had to spend most of the match on the wing, with the backline reshuffled after fullback Jack Kelly was injured. A stock buyer by profession, Rowley often relocated during his rugby career and as a result made appearances for four unions, Bush, Wanganui, Thames Valley and North Auckland. Rowley died in 1956 of injuries received when his car collided with a goods train at a crossing. Graham Westbrook Rowley (October 31, 1912 – December 31, 2003) was an Arctic explorer, hailed as "one of the last true explorers of North America" (The Telegraph). Early life and family Rowley was born on October 31, 1912, in Manchester, England. As the youngest of four, Rowley always had a playful, ambitious edge; which only helped his future highly demanding career. He met his wife Diana at the Royal Geographical Society in Cambridge, where she was a student editor, and after many failed accounts on asking her to go out on a date with him, she finally gave in and they were inseparable from that day forth. Nightwing (band)
Nightwing is a British rock band, originally formed in 1978 as "Gordon and Friends" by bassist Gordon Rowley (formerly of Strife), keyboardist Kenny Newton, and guitarist Eric Bert Percival. The original line-up was Gordon Rowley, Eric Percival, Kenny Newton and Paul Ellson. The band's line-up changed fairly consistently since its inception and, at one point, included vocalist Max Bacon (pre-Bronz), who would go on to be in the supergroup GTR and Dave Evans (formerly of the band Days of Grace and not to be confused with the first AC/DC singer of the same name). Gordon Douglas Rowley (31 July 1921 – 11 August 2019) was a British botanist and writer specialising in cacti and succulents. Personal life Rowley was born on 31 July 1921 in London, UK to Cecil and Florence Gladys (née Goldsworthy) Rowley. He went to The Lower School of John Lyon, Harrow-on-the Hill. In 1942 he graduated with a B.Sc. degree in botany from King's College, University of London. He died on 11 August 2019. Career From 1948 to 1961 Rowley was employed at the John Innes Horticultural Institution while it was based at Merton Park to curate the National Rose Species Collection and subsequently all the plant collections. From 1961 to 1981 he was lecturer in Horticultural Botany at the University of Reading. Geoffrey Joseph Rowley Jr. (born 6 June 1976) is an English professional skateboarder, former co-owner of Flip Skateboards and owner of the Civilware Service Corporation. She was previously a school trustee in the former Toronto borough of East York. Before becoming leader of the Communist Party of Canada, Rowley was leader of the Communist Party of Ontario.
