Rowena Meredith
Rowena Meredith (born 27 April 1995) is an Australian representative rower. She is an Olympic medallist, a multiple Australian national champion at both U23 and senior levels, was twice a medallist at underage world championships and has won four medals at World Rowing Cups. She competed in the Australian women's quad scull at Tokyo 2021 winning a bronze medal. Club and state rowing Born in Basingstoke England, Meredith was raised in Sydney, Australia and her senior club rowing was from the Mosman Rowing Club till 2016 and then Sydney University Boat Club from 2017. Meredith's first state selection for New South Wales was in 2014 in women's youth eight contesting the Bicentennial Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. She rowed again in the New South Wales youth eight in 2015. Mosman Rowing Club
Mosman Rowing Club is an all-level competitive and recreational rowing club on the North Shore of Sydney. Since 2007 the club's facilities have been wholly located at The Spit in Sydney's Middle Harbour, the northern arm of Port Jackson. Mercantile club history Mosman's red and white hooped racing colours date back to 1873 when the Mercantile Rowing Club was founded on the west side of Sydney's Circular Quay at Dawes Point. A meeting of warehousemen and merchants' clerks had decided to form a second club the second in the colony (after Sydney Rowing Club). Henry Woolnough was the club's first chairman, he had earlier been a committee member at Sydney. Mercantile's first patron was the Governor of the New South Wales, Sir Hercules Robinson. Katrina Bateman
Katrina Bateman (born 8 September 1992) is an Australian former representative rower. She is a ten-time Australian national champion, winning four national titles in the single year of 2015 and rowing in successful Victorian Queen's Cup crews for six consecutive years from 2011-2016. She was twice a medallist at underage world championships and has won gold, silver and bronze medals at World Rowing Cups between 2013 and 2019. Club and state rowing Bateman's senior club rowing has been from the Mercantile Rowing Club in Melbourne. She is the older sister of Amanda Bateman who is also an elite rower who has competed for Mercantile, her state of Victoria and Australia. Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion. Rowing is functionally similar to paddling, but rowing requires oars to be mechanically attached to the boat, and the rower drives the oar like a lever, exerting force in the ''same'' direction as the boat's travel; while paddles are completely hand-held and have no attachment to the boat, and are driven like a cantilever, exerting force ''opposite'' to the intended direction of the boat. Kathryn Rowan
Kathryn "Kate" Rowan (born 16 December 1996) is an Australian representative rower. She has represented at underage and senior World Championships. Club and state rowing Rowan was raised in Queensland and attended St Peters Lutheran College in Brisbane. Her senior club rowing was initially from the University of Queensland Boat Club. She was selected into a New South Wales Institute of Sports program in 2021 and thereafter rowed with the Sydney University Boat Club. Rowan first made state selection for Queensland in the 2018 women's senior eight which contested the Queen's Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. She represented again in Queensland Queen's Cup eights in 2019 and 2021. Rowing World Cup
The World Rowing Cup is an international rowing competition organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). It began in 1997 and comprises three regattas (apart from in 2001 when there were four) held throughout early summer. In each event points are awarded to the top seven finishing boats and an overall winner determined after the last world cup regatta each year. During the regattas the current leader in each event must wear yellow bibs. She is a national senior and underage champion, won a world title at the 2019 World U23 Championships and is an Olympian. She competed in the Australian women's quad scull at Tokyo 2021 and won a bronze medal.
